Sen. Richard Shelby: Obama’s Lapdog?

As executive of King County, Washington, Ron Sims was at the center of scandal after scandal[1]. So naturally, Barack Obama nominated Sims for Deputy Secretary of HUD[2]. Given the abundant evidence that Sims is either corrupt or incompetent (or possibly both), what does the senior Republican have to say to the nominee at his confirmation committee?
