Shocking Moment Hit-And-Run Driver Smashed Into Pedestrian And Sent Him Flying 40ft Through The Air

Thankfully, a victim of a hit-and-run is now out of the hospital after he sustained injuries from a joyriding duo who hit him. The man flew an estimated 40-feet through the air and miraculously survived. Thankfully, not only is he okay, but the suspects who are alleged to have perpetrated this crime have been apprehended.

Two people have been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in which a suspected stolen car careered into a pedestrian and flung him 40ft through the air.

The 53-year-old was left seriously injured after being hit by a Fiat 500 as he crossed Montague Place in the Kemptown area of Brighton.

CCTV footage of the incident, in which horrified witnesses stand by in disbelief as the man lies sprawled motionless in the road, has been viewed more than a million times.

A 31-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on Tuesday after trying to hide on a roof in Donald Hall Road in the seaside town, and was detained on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury, attempting to pervert the course of justice and aggravated vehicle taking, Sussex Police said.

A 56-year-old woman, also from the town, was held on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Both are in custody.

Police had released the CCTV – which shows the incident from three different angles – in a bid to speak to people who were in the area at the time.

The incident, which took place at around 3.40pm on Thursday, January 14, left the man with serious injuries but, incredibly, he survived and is no longer in hospital.

Speaking about the video, a spokesman for Sussex Police said: ‘He looks like a rag doll. I’ve never seen anything like that before but he’s recovering well.

‘He had a head injury but as far as I know he’s doing really well. He’s out of hospital. It happened not even two weeks ago.’

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: ‘SECAmb was called at 3.40pm on January 14 to reports a vehicle had hit a pedestrian on Montague Place.

‘Paramedics attended the scene and the male pedestrian, aged in his 50s, was treated before being taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with injuries including a head injury.’

Officers are appealing for witnesses, and anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101, quoting Operation Northdown.

Though stealing a car is immoral, it is unconscionable that these two would hit a man with such velocity and continue speeding on down the road.

Where has our sense of humanity gone?
