So What Was The Rush On The Stimulus, Mr. President?
The NY Post reports that at the same time President Obama was pushing to get the stimulus passed by the end of the week last week – which meant that not one member of Congress had the time to fully read the bill they were voting on – he was planning a three day Valentine’s Day getaway from DC with the First Lady, a getaway that started on Friday:
After pushing Congress for weeks to hurry up and pass the massive $787 billion stimulus bill, President Obama promptly took off for a three-day holiday getaway.
Obama arrived at his home in Chicago on Friday, and treated wife Michelle to a Valentine’s Day dinner downtown last night. The couple was spotted leaving upscale Table Fifty-Two, which specializes in Southern cuisine, with the first lady toting what appeared to be a doggie bag.
The president plans to spend the Presidents’ Day weekend in the Windy City, and is not expected to sign the bill until Tuesday, when he travels to Denver to discuss his economic plan.
Well you know what they say, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
Show of hands how many of you believe that any media outlet besides the NYP and perhaps Fox will report on how Obama’s “fierce urgency of now” tone on the passage of the stimulus bill was put on hold so he and the Mrs. could get away from Washington, DC for three days – three days that Congress could have used to thoroughly read this monstrosity of a bill before voting on it?
I didn’t think so.
