Soccer Star Who Fed Girlfriend’s Body to Dogs Now Works with Kids

In 2013, Bruno Fernandes de Souza was sentenced to 22 years in prison after murdering his ex-girlfriend, Eliza Samudio. It is believed that he killed her because she demanded child support for the 4 month-old child the couple shared. He admitted that he had murdered and dismembered her and then fed her body to his pet Rottweilers.

But now the Brazilian soccer star is out of jail on a technicality, claiming that the courts took too long to deliver a ruling on his appeal. If that alone doesn’t frighten you, then his current occupation certainly will.

Samudio was allegedly taken to the star’s second home by his cousin, believing that she would be meeting with Fernandes de Souza to discuss the terms of child support. She was then held hostage and eventually murdered.

The police found their young child being cared for by Fernandes de Souza’s wife, but was eventually sent to live with Samudio’s mother. (Could this be one of the reasons the soccer star didn’t want to pay child support? Because he had committed adultery?)

According to the legal system, the crime required at least two-fifths of the sentence be served before even requesting to be switched to a semi-open jail regimen, but now he’s back on the street.

Not only is he free, but he is working with children. A convicted murderer who admitted to dismembering his ex-girlfriend and feeding her to dogs is giving hour-long lessons, 5 days a week, to children at the Nucleus of Training for Peace in Varginha.

Now I’m not a lawyer, nor do I claim to be an expert in law – let alone foreign law – but it seems to me that there would be some sort of protocol to follow here. At the very least, he should be under some sort of house arrest to mitigate the threat he poses to the public, right?

The mother of the murdered woman claims that the laws are “being bent to suit and excuse the privileged in our society,” which appears to be true from what I am seeing here. Soccer is a big thing in Brazil and it wouldn’t surprise me if the legal system did everything they could to make sure that he could continue playing his sport while at the same time paying lip service to the family who has suffered at his hands. This is simply disgusting and dangerous.
