‘Suicide Bomber’ Detonates Inside California Health Clinic

Whenever Americans hear the words “suicide bomber,” we immediately assume the incident involves Muslims, but that doesn’t appear to be the case in Oakland.

Reports indicate that a wheelchair-bound gentleman entered a health clinic in Oakland and used a pipe bomb to blow himself up. He was the only casualty in the explosion, as there was nobody else in the lobby.

For all intents and purposes, it appears as if this was simply a suicide without the intent to hurt others, though why the man chose to kill himself with a pipe bomb in a health clinic is still under investigation.

The Oakland Police Department released this statement in regards to the explosion:

Witnesses reported that an adult male, who was in a wheelchair, entered the lobby of the clinic armed with what appeared to be a pipe bomb and detonated the bomb taking his own life. No other injuries were reported. The investigation reveals this is an isolated incident where an individual took his own life. OFD and emergency medical services responded to the scene. The Alameda County Sheriff’s bomb squad also responded.

It doesn’t look like this was tied to terrorism, but as more details are released about this incident, we will bring them to you.
