Ten Reasons to Get Government Spending Under Control

By allowing government to metastasize wildly during flush economic times, states have set themselves up for an unavoidable crash, now that the economy is slowing down. ABC News lists the 10 in biggest trouble, along with their budget gaps as a percentage of their overall budgets:

California: $53.7 billion shortfall or 58 percent of its budget
Arizona: $4 billion shortfall or 41 percent of its budget
Nevada: $1.2 billion or 38 percent of its budget
Illinois: $9.2 billion or 33 percent of its budget
New York: $17.9 billion or 32 percent of its budget
Alaska: $1.35 billion shortfall or 30 percent of its budget
New Jersey: $8.8 billion or 30 percent of its budget
Oregon: $4.2 billion or 29 percent of its budget
Vermont: $278 million or 25 percent of its budget
Washington: $3.6 billion or 23 percent of its budget
Connecticut: $4.1 billion or 23 percent of its budget

You’ll notice that almost all are blue states.

One exception is Arizona, which is suffering severely as an inevitable consequence of the profligate spending spree by former Democrat governor Janet “Crappy Nappy” Napolitano, aka “Uncle Mort.” Fittingly, Uncle Mort now works in the District of Criminals, serving an administration that is doing the same thing to the country that she did to her state.

Don’t fret, bankrupt states. The feds will bail you out. Then when the federal government follows California et al. into insolvency, the entire economy will collapse, and we won’t have to worry anymore, because the government will step in and take care of everything, just like in the Soviet Union.

Arizona owes it all to Uncle Mort.
