The RNC Could Learn Something From This Democratic Attack On Rush

Although I think the Democratic attacks on Rush make for dumb political strategy[1], the RNC could learn something from the “Send Rush a message” contest that the Democratic Party[2] is running,

We’ll go through all of the slogans you submit, and the winner will have his or her submission appear on a billboard in Rush Limbaugh’s hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida — and receive a free T-shirt featuring the winning slogan.

Please keep your suggestion to ten words or fewer.

It’s an innovative idea, encourages people to participate, gathers email addresses that can be later used for fundraising, will reward someone in the grassroots for making a suggestion, and will get media attention.

Why shouldn’t the GOP do the same thing with Barack Obama or better yet — Harry Reid? Why would Reid be even better than Barack Obama? Because Harry Reid is actually up for re-election in 2010 and is vulnerable. Why not have a contest, get a slogan, and put it up on a billboard in his home town? Then if it works, why not have a contest for Chris Dodd? How about John Murtha?

It doesn’t matter where it comes from; a good idea is a good idea. This is an idea that the RNC should adopt. Michael Steele — are you listening?

Hat tip to The American Princess[3] for the story.
