It cannot be easy being deaf. However, it also cannot be easy being the child of deaf parents. Though it matters less as we grow older, as a child, kids just don’t want to stand-out as different. However, one dedicated young daughter and her entire class decided to use the occasion of a Christmas pageant to show a kind gesture to the parents of the girl[1] who could attend the pageant, but could not hear it.

When this little girl sang songs in her Christmas pageant, she knew that her parents wouldn’t be able to appreciate it like other attendees. Since her parents are both hearing impaired, they would only be able to watch their daughter and lip read the songs. That’s why this kindergartner and her class decided to do something sweet and brilliant.

It’s a simple gesture, really, but one that speaks volumes. In these times of seemingly endless bad news in the world, remembering these small kindnesses can really help.
