Donald Trump has dominated in the polls since this summer, and while there are no signs that will be changing anytime soon, he seems ready to give himself an out if necessary.

On Tuesday, Trump boasted about a new USA Today/Suffolk poll that showed 68% of his supporters would vote for him if he left the GOP to run as an independent candidate.

Earlier this year, every GOP candidate signed a “loyalty pledge,” including Trump, promising to support the eventual GOP nominee. Within weeks, however, Trump hedged from his position, threatening to exit the party’s race if he was treated “unfairly.”

Some of his Facebook commenters were on board with the hint:

But others said don’t do it:

With the GOP elite and his fellow candidates condemning his comments about Muslims, it looks like Trump is back to threatening an exit once more.

Should Trump exit the GOP race and run as an Independent?
