[VIDEO] Trey Gowdy – ‘The Bulldog’ Bares His Teeth and Sinks Into Jonathan Gruber

RAWR! Trey Gowdy rips into Jonathan Gruber!

Gruber appeared before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Tuesday to answer questions about those remarks, which included his reference to “the stupidity of the American voter” as an integral factor in enacting Obamacare. He also cited a “lack of transparency” during the bill’s drafting phase as a “huge political advantage.”:

South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy questioned Gruber in an attempt to determine exactly what motivated the professor to make such comments.
“Do you think not being a politician is a defense?” Gowdy asked. “Is that your defense this morning?”
Gruber responded that he was guilty of “conjecturing” and making “glib” remarks about a topic on which he is “not an expert.”
Gowdy, a former prosecutor, seized on the witness’ assertion that he was out of his element when discussing the political aspects of Obamacare.
“Well, what is a non-politician doing talking about political advantages?” Gowdy asked.
As his defense, Gruber claimed he wanted to convince his colleagues he was better informed on the issue than he actually was.

Gowdy concluded by exploring the possible reasons behind Gruber’s apology.
“What I’m struggling with is whether your apology is because you said it, or because you meant it,” Gowdy said.
He asked the witness if, given the numerous examples of language Gruber himself called “inexcusable,” his apology might strike some as “disingenuous.”

This dog has bite as well as bark. Watch Gowdy tear Gruber up while remaining cool as a cucumber:
