An Innocent Woman Gets Caught In The Crossfire Of Playing The Race Card
Written By : Kathleen McKinley

By now you have probably heard of USDA’s Shirley Sherrod’s video where it appears she is admitting to not helping a white farmer just because he was white. The YouTube clip shows a portion of her March 27 speech at an NAACP banquet.

This comes on the heels of the NAACP continuing the false narrative that the Tea Party members are racist.

Why would the NAACP do such a thing? It seems that is what members of the Journolist do when they want a person or organziation to stop making progress or speak the truth. Throw out the “racist” stigma, and watch the conservative or organization defend itself. Better to have that conversation than the reason why our economy is in deep trouble.

From the Daily Caller:

According to records obtained by The Daily Caller, at several points during the 2008 presidential campaign a group of liberal journalists took radical steps to protect their favored candidate. Employees of news organizations including Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic participated in outpourings of anger over how Obama had been treated in the media, and in some cases plotted to fix the damage.
In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares – and call them racists.”

Yeah, just pick one. Doesn’t matter who. Just smear them. Unbelievable. Absoutely dispicable.

I suppose it started with Congressmen Andre Carson and John Lewis and other Congressional Black Caucus members who staged a walk through the Tea Party crowd in front of the capitol the day before the health care vote. The Congressmen’s aids (note that the actual Congressmen never said they heard slurs) claimed that the N word was hurled at them fifteen times. Since then all video of the incident shows no such thing occurred, and an offer of a $100,000 award to anyone who can prove it was said has not been claimed.

To me it was clearly a manufactured plan to paint the Tea Party as racist so the focus would be off the cost of the bill, and the government takeover of health care.

What happens when the left starts throwing around the term “racist”? They get the same thrown back at them. But this time an innocent woman (it seems to me) got caught in the crossfire.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture demanded the resignation of Shirley Sherrod after this video surfaced. But like a lot of videos and out of context statements, there is more to this story. Yes, she did let race keep her from helping the farmer as she would have if he had been black, but this happened 24 years ago when she was working for a non profit. This is what she told CNN:

SHERROD: I was speaking to that group like I’ve done many groups, and I tell them about a time when I thought the issue was race and race only. And I tell them the story of how I’ve worked with a white farmer back in 1986. I was not working for the Department of Agriculture. I was working with a non-profit organization assisting farmers throughout South Georgia and the Southeast. And this farmer came to me for help. I was telling the story about how working with him helped me to see that the issue is not about race, it’s about those who have versus those who do not have.

She ended up being close friends with the farmer in question.

She was describing a teaching moment. If one listens to the rest of the speech, we understand that. It said to me that she had learned her lesson on not looking at the race of someone, but who they are.

I’m ashamed that Breitbart has sunken to the level that the left play. The left routinely take sentences out of context, cut audio or video, and vilify people like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity. Not to mention Sarah Palin. We’ve come to expect it. But we don’t need to cut audio or video. If we start doing that, then we become what we hate.

The administration and the NAACP quickly denounced Sherrod without giving her a chance to explain or to watch the full tape. It’s sad that we have come to this.

How about this. We all stop throwing around the term “racist?” Enough is enough. The left needs to stop trying to change the conversation with untrue accusations on race, and conservatives need to not get on the bandwagon of this tit for tat smear campaigns.

    Ha, awesome.

    This country has gone insane.

Anyway, I suppose I should have withheld judgment until all the facts were out. I take back all the stuff I said about her.

Although the bits about Obama, the left in general and the NAACP stand.

    • Mr. EMT

      Yeah guilty here too.
However, i'm totally laughing while I am trying to write this due to the fact that NAACP and the white house and pretty much everyone didnt bother questioning it at all and the NAACP went into coverup mode and ran her over with their bus before even trying to deny it or say they would look into it.
Not sure who has more egg on their face. Breitbart or NAACP.
Breit should apologise to the lady personally.
NAACP? Not sure a box of roses and an apology would be enough lol.
How do you say, “Gee, sorry we thought you were one of our typical representatives that got caught”

      • UFKA_Smithwick

NAACP reprsentative: Hey she was hanging out with us, we just assumed she was racist.

It's like randomly selecting the one guy in the Klan who is ok with jews and catholics. Sure it can happen, but one can be forgiven for assuming that is unlikely.

Beer summit time? This time Obama, Sherrod, and the NAACP can sit down and have some drinks. Not beer though, too low brow and ech “American” (also cheap, can't have that).

Maybe chardonnay? I'm sure they won't mind if this one is held at a gulf course.

        • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/ELCWV5ANDUEJ5D5PB35FL2LZ6Y Bildo

“gulf course”?? Surely that wasn't just a Freudian slip.

          • UFKA_Smithwick

            Ha!

Sadly no, I'm not that clever. Homphones get me every time.

            Good catch.

      • Rose

Maybe they chose her to throw under the bus for other reasons, because she is not typical enough???

What is going on that isn't being properly covered – such as the JournoList story, and Mrs. Berry's recent talk to Politico, joblessness, and no telling what else – something else they tried to squeeze off the Front Page like the Gulf Spill…

  • northerncanuck

I find the NAACP audience reaction more interesting. Why no focus on that?

    • Rose

THAT is what Breitbart said this evening…

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/ELCWV5ANDUEJ5D5PB35FL2LZ6Y Bildo

“How about this. We all stop throwing around the term “racist?” Enough is enough. …conservatives need to not get on the bandwagon of this tit for tat smear campaigns. “

    You're kidding, right?

One of my favorite recent quotes: “The media is how America fights its civil wars. In this war at least half the country is both under-served and is painfully aware it is being under-served and lied to. In pop culture parlance, 'we're going to need bigger guns'

Sorry, but to the Left the civil war has already begun. They have shown that there are no Geneva Conventions in this civil war. The rules are what they make them.

Well, I'm all for using their rules against them. Every. Single. Time.

  • Mr. EMT

I'm ashamed that Breitbart has sunken to the level that the left play. The left routinely take sentences out of context, cut audio or video, and vilify people like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity.

I am not at all ashamed that he did.
For one thing, I am not responsible for someone else's actions and Breitbart does not represent me or my beliefs.
However, even if he did represent me and my beliefs I would not be ashamed due to the fact that I totally believe in being the dirtiest fighter that is in the fight.
Breit broke no laws, and is guilty of nothing that his opponents do not commonly do on a habitual basis and I would LOVE to see them try to come out and cry foul.
Meantime Breitbart has her story up on his website now.
    http://www.breitbart.tv/shirley-sherrod-speaks-

Seriously, Kathleen, grow a set of balls and get your hands dirty.
You don't win a fight while worrying about chipping a nail.

      • Mr. EMT

Rule #1: Last man standing wins.
Rule #2: First to run looses.

    • HammerNH

I agree that there is no shame in what Breitbart did.
The NAALCP called me and everyone at TEA Parties nationwide racists.
The told a non-existent national leadership to 'purge' its racist members.

      False narrative.

Shirley is both a socialist and at minimum a reformed racist.
She stayed with the race point when her NAALCP audience warmed to it – 'Oh it's about black and white!'

Breitbart was right on the money to expose racism in the NAALCP (which is it's reason for being).

      • Mahatma

        NAALCP?

        • UFKA_Smithwick

I'm guessing National Associate for the Advancement of Leftwing Colored People.

Due to the fact that they don't really like black folks who leave the “plantation” and venture out on their own, thinking their own thoughts, having their own careers etc.

        • StanW

You are being extra stupid today, Martha. You know what these acronyms means. Care to comment on the topic at hand?

  • Shambhala

“it's about those who have versus those who do not have.”

    NONSENSE!
She learned NOTHING. She still wants a class war.
She is an idiot socialist. Get over it

  • Mr. EMT

Just saw the video for myself the first time…
I got to say… back the bus up and hit her again.
    http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx?v=XdZu

“It's not so much about the white Vs black, but about the poor Vs those who have.”
Sorry, her teachable moment is all about socialism and is still racist.
Just not as much about racism as it is about socialism.
Money shot comes when she says, “Thats when it was revealed to me…”

I personally could not care one whit what Liberal, Far Left, assholes think about whether I am racist or not. I KNOW that I am not and do not intend to defend my criticism of Barak Obama by trying to prove that I am not a racist. I'm anti Obama, not anti black, brown or purple for that matter. He's got plenty of things to be anti about, without having to worry with the color of his skin. And, further, I do not believe for one minute that Barak Obama considers himself a “black American”. I guarantee you he thinks he's better than the people that voted him in, because his skin color is dark. And, unless he needed the vote, he would not pour water on them if they were on fire. Same with Hispanics…..if they believe he is their friend, it's gonna be a depressing day for them, when they realize he cut their throats, right along with the rest of us.

    Kathleen:

Actually, I hate to admit it but I'm more ashamed of you than Breitbart.

The woman did indeed, and admittedly, withhold assistance from someone as a result of the color of their skin. And she deserves all the well-aimed criticism she has gotten for that.

I suppose if a man sexually harassed a woman in the workplace, but later said he learned his lesson you would also choose to not prosecute him? Respectfully, I doubt that's the case.

In this context, in this video, the woman told a story of how she happily FAILED to personally give her effort to help a man because he was white.

This time the NAACP got it right, and you did not.

    -LTB

    • Rose

NAACP didn't get it right, they threw her un der the bus becau8se it was a TIMING issue and they needed a distraction from something else, and they had something on her that if tken out of context, would do the trick THEY THOUGHT and run over the Conservatives for blatant racism in the process.

We all need to clear our palates and take a look around and see what this bit of staged business is doing on the front burner, instead of what the DIMS don't want us to see, right now.

  • ATeaPartyPatriot

holder gets to be the most blatantly racist AG ever, but some USDA schmuck gets the can for being only 1/100th as racist! Where's the “equality”.

  • Danny Carlton

Brietbart released the FULL video. It's not his fault the Libs are too stupid to pay attention to the whole thing. He wanted to show that there's racism at the NAACP, and he did. The audience laughed with joy at the idea of a white person being discriminated against.

    • UFKA_Smithwick

Consider this: a white republican at say an NRA meeting relating a tale of how he had blatantly discriminated against a black guy because he immediately distrusted the fellow and the audience laughs uproariously at his story.

Later he recounts that nah, it's cool, they're friends now.

All this gets released in a video to the MSM.

Are you saying that the white republican in charge and the NRA wouldn't be given a complete pass by the media, and that investigation attempts to prove the innocence of all involved would never occur?

Because yeah we'd never hear the end of it. All would have to be fired and give their wealth to the NAACP or Jesse. And even then it would be used as a bludgeon against the GOP for the next 10 years.

Well if they didn't have double standards they wouldn't have standards at all.

  • Rose

Andrew Breitbart isn't after Sherrod – his target is the NAACP to make them QUIT calling the Tea Partiers racists. And he thinks the NAACP framed Ms Sherrod.

So does Glenn Beck and apparently Charles Krauthammer, too. The speech was in March, the story is 24 yrs old and she has been friends with them ever since – and the NAACP doesn't want to release the whole tape so her story is in full context, and the ending of what she said is heard.

  • Liberal_Troll

YEAH!!! I want my country back – He's not one of us – Barry Huesein is a Muslim – He pals around with terrorists.
