Meanwhile, the Democrats are using this ridiculous incident to line the pockets of Wilson’s current opponent for Congress, raising $750,000 in emotional outrage. Republicans, on the other hand, have shown support for Wilson in smaller amounts, currently totaling $200,000:

Wilson has now taken in more than $200,000 since the outburst, during which time he has hit the radio and TV talk show circuit and launched his own fundraising effort.

It’s not as much as Miller’s $750,000 from outraged liberals, but it’s not chump change, either.

I made a donation to Wilson’s campaign yesterday. Strangely enough, his website this morning had a post entitled, “Stand with Me Against Liberal Attacks”, about how, while he was wrong for disrespecting the President and apologized, he was not backing down from the fight on healthcare or the race for his congressional seat. An hour later, the post is now down.

I hope Wilson maintains the courageous demeanor we’ve seen from his the past two days. The Democrats will make every attempt to destroy him, so it’s crucial that out party now come together in his defense.

Tell you what, if I were not in such dire straights myself, I would donate to Joe Wilson. During that speech that Odumbo gave, I was yelling at the T.V. "Liar" when I heard someone in that vaulted room holler out the same thing all I could do was cheer! May God Bless this man and keep the momentum going.

Coulter is an attention-mongering twit, if Representative Hill was such a great statesman he'd have found a better way to deal with this than heckling during a speech.

I think you mean Wilson.

Yes, how completely gouche'(sp) of him to upset the delicate sensitivities of the Democrats, who showed such great and admirable restraint in expressing their political displeasure when Bush was in office. Because of this unprecidented outburst by Wilson, the Democrats may stop consulting with the Republicans. This could set back all the bipartisan efforts Pelosi and Reid have made.

Statesmen also don't stand in front of Congress and lie through their teeth or accuse their political opponents of being all manner of things, including terrorists and Nazis.

I don't see any reason for Joe Wilson to observe any sense of "decorum" when Obama and the Democrats refuse to do the same.

Wilson had to publicly apologize making him a embarrasment to his party with his heckle.

Whether you like their decorum rules or not is immaterial Wilson hurt his party more than he helped

You can say its rediculous that his opponents have raised all this money but again immaterial because he gave them fodder to help fill their coffers which otherwise wouldn't have been filled.

It was a feel good moment but a flash in the pan and Wilson will be quickly forgotten for his outburst and relegated to political insignificance by his party because of it.

Good thing is now he's the number one dufus from SC; he put Sanford in second place:)

I agree MightyS… but still I think it was ill advised for him to do that. Now the attention is on Wilson instead of the lame crap the O'ssiah was spewing out. This does nothing more than give the MSM reason to keep replaying the O'ssiah speech.

Having said that… kudos to the man for standing up for what he believes in and willing to speak truth to O'ssiah.

It would have been great if Wilson was indeed right (for those on the right) but now everyone is following up on his "You Lie" exclmation and fact checking the proposed bill and are discovering that his outburst was indeed false and that the President was indeed telling the truth.

It vindicates Obama ie he didn't lie and it makes the repubs look even more foolish and worse it erodes their credibility on stopping the healtcare overhaul.

Exactly. Wilson called Obama out, now all anyone can talk about is whether or not illegals are covered under Obamacare.

Repeating this lie won't make it true, y'know. In order for illegals to not be covered under Obamacare there needs to be an enforcement method. There isn't one. Ergo, illegals can be and will be covered.

I agree, President Obama isn't a statesman either.

Oh, and Obama did lie: he lied when he said that the plan wouldn't cover illegals, and it would. That's a lie. That's why the Senate is discussing a change to the bill to make sure they would not be covered.

Once again for the terminally stupid: the bill may say it won't provide services for illegals, but there is no provision to allow anyone to check a patient's legal status.
