Bowing Before Monarchs and Tyrants: Obama ‘Restores’ America’s World Standing With His Head Down – UPDATE: REAGAN DIDN’T BOW!!
Written By : Donald Douglas

The headline up top is borrowed from Power Line, “Why is This Man Bowing?” (via Memeorandum):

Obama’s breach of protocol is of a piece with the substance of his foreign policy. He means to teach Americans to bow before monarchs and tyrants. He embodies the ideological multiculturalism that sets the United States on the same plane as other regimes based on tribal privilege and royal bloodlines. He gives expressive form to the idea that the United States now willingly prostrates itself before the rest of the world. He declares that the United States is a country like any other, only worse, because we have so much for which to apologize.

Just when you think the One (PBUH) has reached rock bottom, he breaks out the power drill and digs down to a whole new level of incompetence.

OK, while Newsweek frets over Sarah Palin’s credentials to be President, Powerline reports the following stellar performance by Bambi in Tokyo today:

(Obama answering a question about the propriety of nuking Hiroshima & Nagasaki):

… Now, obviously Japan has unique perspective on the issue of nuclear weapons as a consequence of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And that I’m sure helps to motivate the Prime Minister’s deep interest in this issue. I certainly would be honored, it would be meaningful for me to visit those two cities in the future. I don’t have immediate travel plans, but it’s something that would be meaningful to me.

You had one more question, and I’m not sure I remember it. Was it North Korea?

Q Whether or not you believe that the U.S. dropped a nuclear weapon on Hiroshima and Nagasaki — it was right?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: No, there were three sets of questions, right? You asked about North Korea?

So there you have it, Obama can’t bring himself to say the bombings were justified. This, in a country that to this day can’t apologize for the Rape of Nanking, or the rape of hundreds of thousands of South Korean women except in the most vague terms. What a piece of trash he is.

I think this is less about obeisance to foreign leaders and more about being incompetently clueless about protocol. President Obama wants to make sure he’s not arrogant and makes the other not feel oppressed, like the guy who can’t bring himself to criticize an incompetent co-worker because he belongs to a protected minority group.

He should have been informed that anything beyond a minor dip of the head between heads of state is groveling, and a bow that low is clearly an example of someone humiliated, cowering, and begging forgiveness. He should have been told this and known it but the Obama state department is so clueless and packed with leftist ideologues rather than capable people they probably didn’t know either.

When I lived in Japan as a kid (around 10-11) I bowed to adults when told that I should, given the social situation.

And I purposely bowed really deep, like 90 degrees. And it was appropriate.

    Because that’s what children do.

  • libliever

I think you should blame General MacArthur for letting Akihito’s father Hirohito maintain his monarchy.
Oh, that’s right Mac was an arc conservative and was only using Hirohito to maintain the peace in post war Japan.
    Yah, right.
We could have done anything we wanted to in Japan in Sept of ’45 so why maintain an institution that promoted the war with the USA in the first place?

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

What are you talking about lib? Are you just rendered speechless by seeing this clueless twerp bow to yet another foreign king?

Thomas Jefferson’s bones are trying to claw out of his tomb to get at this guy.

  • libliever

Look CT, I’m not going to defend the POTUS to you or anybody else here because no matter what I say you will categorically disagree with it.
I’m pointing out that General MacArthur, who would make Sarah Palin look like a hippie, allowed Japan to keep its monarchy.
    Why?

  • William Teach

Nice attempt to change the subject, libliever. However, the post is about President Neophyte bowing to Japan’s Emperor, who is a figure head, like the Queen of England. Do you think it is appropriate for the POTUS to place himself in a subservient role like that? Let’s put it this way: how much of a fit would you throw had Bush done that?

  • Mike_M

    “Why?”

Who cares about the Japanese monarchy? You think letting their figurehead emperor hang around was a sign of weakness or something after we dropped two nuclear bombs on them? Really?

Look at the second picture…Reagan is probably crushing Hirohito’s hand and saying “remember ’45, pal” through his teeth.

Then there’s Obama, simply prostrating himself since that’s a piss poor bow by Japanese standards. Remember the good old days when we had a State Department to know those kind of things?

Un-be-lievable…Was he not taught in grade-school social- studies the significance of the depth of a bow in Japan?

Even more troubling: if President Obama knows the significance of his gesture and he willingly sacrificed centuries American prestige and exceptionalism -earned with the blood of our military and sweat off our brows- with an obsequious gesture.

  • http://quantum-kitty.blogspot.com/ simulacre

hah…funny thought. Tossing this out for any conspiracy theorists…

What if Obama pulled this bow figurin’ that he would use it as cover. His previous bow -to a Muslim king- is most disturbing considering we’re in a shooting war with radicals who got their teachings from the family he’s bowing to…So, I s’pose it’s more palatable to think of Obama as a fumbling and bumbling -completely inept- gesticulator rather than a subservient subject to a Saudi King.

  • BIG

If you think this is bad, just wait until Obama gives a “Lewinski” to the mullahs of Iran.

  • http://www.superdickery.com mightysamurai

This is less an example of subservience and groveling than it is an example of Obama’s absolutely ”stunning” ignorance of basic diplomatic protocol. I honestly don’t get why he has so much trouble with this. Doesn’t he have aids to explain stuff like this to him? Didn’t anyone pull him aside on Air Force One and remind him that, no, he doesn’t actually have to bow to the Emperor of Japan?

Of course he has people surrounding him to point out protocol. But the people he surrounded himself with hate America and are doing all they can to destroy our country. So yes, they are doing the job he appointed them to do.

Why do you keep saying “Sarah Palin?” What does she, or Gen Mac, have to do with obama bowing before everybody?

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

I’m pointing out that General MacArthur, who would make Sarah Palin look like a hippie, allowed Japan to keep its monarchy.
    Why?

Why not? There’s nothing innately evil about a monarchy, and it was their country, not his.

You’ve tried to defend stuff that conservatives disagreed with before, be honest with yourself, if not us. You aren’t trying to defend President Obama because what he did was stupid, ignorant, and humiliating.

I think you guys should get over yourselves. It’s not really that big of a deal. He is not assuming any kind of subservient role. He is just paying respect to the Japanese Emperor.

Article I, section 9 of the U.S. Constitution states: “No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State.”

If both Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Roosevelt, just to name two presidents, thought it beyond belief to accept or give obeisance, then President Obama should be able to understand the same. Somebody on his staff should brush up on thier history classes. It is shameful, and therefore shows shame on our entire country by association. End of story.

Well, for starters Japan was effectively a military dictatorship run by Gen. Tojo. MacArthur was also concerned that moving to abolish the Imperial office in a land where just weeks before the masses were willing to fight to the bitter end, if need be, with bamboo sticks would cause enormous resentment and hatred that would last down to the present day.

But if it makes you feel better, libliever… MacArthur never bowed to the Emperor. In someways, he actually displaced him in the minds & hearts of the Japanese.

The point, D-Vega, is his rank amateurism (anyone could have told him he needn’t bow down to the Emperor’s freaking crotch level – if he meant a bow as an Oriental greeting, a slight nod of the head like Nixon once did before the Emperor would have sufficed) and complete seeming unawareness of his own rank as the Leader of the Free World. I know he doesn’t like to think of the American President that way, but hey – that’s just the way it is.

I’m forever bemused by how obsequious this guy comes across with potentates, but how savagely ruthless he is with his domestic political opposition. Rahm “The Knife” Emanuel is his Chief of Staff, he’s got goons out beating up people at town halls, he’s got people calling ordinary Americans at Tea Parties fascists. But to the outside world, he practically rolls over on his back, begging for a tummy rub.
