But is that a bug? Or is it a feature?

Dumping retirees off their employer-provided health benefits? All part of the master plan!

Via HotAir: ObamaCare threatens employer-provided drug benefits.

…The health care overhaul will cost U.S. companies billions and make them more likely to drop prescription drug coverage for retirees because of a change in how the government subsidizes those benefits.

…Figuring out what it will mean for retirees will take longer, but analysts said as many as 2 million could lose the prescription drug coverage provided by their former employers, leaving them to enroll in Medicare’s program.

Ed Morrissey writes:

Congress passed the bill without knowing what was in it. Barack Obama signed it without reading it. Now it looks as though the Associated Press reported on ObamaCare without comprehending its content.

Ah, but: is that a bug? Or a feature?

If companies across the U.S. start dumping benefits they previously provided, how will Democrats respond? With a slapping facepalm? “Aw, dang! We didn’t mean to do that!”

Or will they demonize those businesses as greedy, uncaring, willing to throw their employees and retirees to the wolves in the name of Almighty Dollar? Will they use the ObamaCare-made drug-benefit dumping to call for even more governmentalization of health care? Bigger government. More tax money. Greater government control over the private sector.

Was it a mistake? Or all part of the plan?

It has the liberal Democrat plan to insitute socialism in the USA. Trouble is, the counter balance to that force was lost when the GOP decided to throw its fiscally conservaitve principles under the bus by shifting gears and suddenly promoting its own version of voodoo “deficits don’t matter” economic policy. The GOP, at that moment in time, became just as corrupt as the DEMS. In the long run, the GOP “borrow and spend” voodoo economic policy does just as much harm to a vibrant free enterprize economic system as does the DEM “tax and spend” voodoo economic policy.

Just look at the sad state of affairs today. It has gotten so bad that GOP Rep Paul Ryan, who is trying to stand up for fiscally conservative principles, finds himself shuned by the vase majority of his fellow GOP peers in the House. Rep Ryan has developed a detailed plan of specific spending cuts which will balance the Federal budget without having to raise taxes. Yet only about ten of Rep Ryan’s fellow GOP members of the House have agreed to co-sponsor Rep Ryan’s plan. Even Minority Leader Boehner, who brags that “things will be different if he becomes Speaker” has refused to co-sponsor Rep Ryan’s plan.

I am sure the Democrats counted picking up all these prescription drug benefits in their $500 billion cut in Medicare. Afterall, with the governement now fully in charge, they can offer more services to more people and spend less money. LOL, I bet some libs actually believe that.
