CNN’s Liberal Bias On Display

If you want to see an excellent example of liberal media bias, just take a look at this article[1] from Wolf Blitzer at CNN.

It’s a story about Bush’s speech yesterday in front of the “conservative Heritage Foundation”. The article talks about how “the president showed absolutely no signs of retreat (in Iraq),” mentions a few quotes by the President, and makes an effort to try to get the gist of what he said across. Some people might quibble with the way Blitzer phrased a few things in the article, but I have no major complaints…until the end. Here is how Wolf Blitzer finishes the piece…

“Missing from the president’s speech were any direct references to Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden — both of whom remain at large — and Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction — which have yet to be found.”

Let’s just call that what it is; a paragraph that was inserted into the article for no other reason than to take a cheap shot at Bush. The President’s speech obviously wasn’t about Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, or WMD, so what’s notable about them NOT being mentioned?

I mean come on, is this what the news business is coming to? Punching up stories about things people DIDN’T MENTION? Why can’t CNN just cover what was actually said without trying to put an anti-Bush spin on the article? If CNN was really unbiased and not just a leftward leaning cable news network that claims to call it right down the middle, that last paragraph wouldn’t have been tacked onto the article.
