Czars. We joke about them, and President Obama’s obsession with them. By most accounts, there are too many. Let’s have an updated look at them.

Twenty One and counting. I think. Nothing seems to be definitive. Glenn Beck puts the count at 18, the most recent addition being the Health Choices Czar. Here’s a list:

* Health reform czar;
* Energy czar;
* Car czar;
* Urban affairs czar;
* Faith-based policies czar;
* Great Lakes Czar
* TARP czar;
* Stimulus accountability czar;
* Non-proliferation czar;
* Terrorism czar;
* Regulatory czar;
* Drug czar;
* Guantanamo closure czar;
* Border czar;
* Information technology czar;
* Pay Czar (Or “Compensation Czar”);
* Middle East Czar;
* Pakistan Czar;
* Afghanistan Czar;
* Health Choices Commission Czar (Yes, this is different from Health Reform. Don’t ask me how.);
* Government Performance Czar

There will be at LEAST one more when Obama appoints a Cyber-Security Czar. There has also been a “Domestic Violence Advisor” appointed by Mr. Violence Against Women Act Joe Biden himself. Maybe we’ll need a Czar Czar to keep tabs on all the Czars. A Community Organization Czar? What do y’all think is next?

I’ve already put this in perspective, but let me reiterate. Czars are a DIRECT EXPANSION of Presidential power. This is nothing but a way to circumvent Congress. He is failing to fill cabinet positions, and attempting to pass on what SHOULD be Congressionally approved positions to his Czars. This is completely un-Consitutional.

Now liberals, before you start whining about Reagan starting the Czar thing, he had ONE. And the intent of his Drug Czar was to underscore his War on Drugs campaign. One advisor is very different than 21 minions that are basically a way for the President to oversee everything without accountability. Even Robert C. Byrd recognizes the danger involved with unchecked Presidential power. If you can’t see the difference between one and 21, I can’t help you.

I wish I could make this funny, but the fact is, the ramifications are too great. Executive power grabs that go unchecked do not pan out well.
