Democrats for tax cuts…before Election Day. After?
Written By : TrogloPundit

Nothing like a tough re-election to bring Democrats around on taxes. Ed Morrissey writes:

Forty-seven Democrats have publicly demanded that Pelosi acquiesce to an across-the-board extension of existing tax rates on capital gains and dividends.

Plus:

House Democrats on Wednesday barely won a 210-209 vote to adjourn the House without extending the Bush tax cuts.

Thirty-nine House Democrats voted against adjournment after Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) urged opposition to the motion in a floor speech that said it would be irresponsible for Congress to leave without providing certainty on the tax issue. Dozens of Democrats in tough races voted against adjourning.

Thirty-nine voted against adjournment; forty-seven want the tax cuts for everyone – including “the rich.”

Which eight, I wonder, “demanded” the tax cut extension, but went along with adjournment?

More importantly: which of these pro-tax cut Democrats will suddenly find a reason to vote against the tax cuts once November 2 is in their rear view?

Afterwards, they'll be full of the desire to take revenge on the voters.

Let's hope the voters remember as clearly in 2012 – if they are not required to be more drastic before THAT.

I am not resolved that they can save the union til 2012.

    We shall see.

It's really too bad that these clowns can't understand how the uncertainty over upcoming tax rates is the biggest thing slowing down the employment side of the economic recovery.

And they're f*cking playing politics with it. Nice. That shows what they really think of us.

Martin, they understand it loud and clear; they just assume the American population doesn't. Oh sorry, they're right on that. Y'want proof? You just said “It's really too bad that these clowns can't understand how the uncertainty over upcoming tax rates is the biggest thing slowing down the employment side of the economic recovery.”

Yeah, you gave 'em the benefit of the doubt. After about 2 centuries of them pulling this, why are you still doing that?

No budget, no resolution on taxes, tons of uncertainty created by Obamacare and the financial reform laws. And yet they wonder why businesses aren't spending or hiring.

Businesses crave certainty or at least somewhat quantifiable risk. There is no certainty, and it's impossible to quanitfy the risk. In such an environment, business will at best stand pat. At worse they'll pull in a bit to protect themselves.

Every tax cut galls them as they are hardwired to see it as their money. So tax cuts are like theft by the taxpayers to congressional democrats.

“Tax cuts” to the poor that exceed the amount of taxes those folks have paid it are ok because it's really more of a handout and they have to get a hold of the money first so they can redistribute it. But actually giving money back to those who earned it is physically painful for them.
