European Anarchists Become More Coordinated. Wait, What?
Written By : William Teach

Nothing like coordinated anarchists to say anarchy

ROME – A loosely linked movement of European anarchists who want to bring down state and financial institutions is becoming more violent and coordinated after decades out of the spotlight, and may be responding to social tensions spawned by the continent’s financial crisis, security experts say.

Italian police said Tuesday that letter bombs were sent to three embassies in Rome by Italian anarchists in solidarity with jailed Greek anarchists, who had asked their comrades to organize and coordinate a global “revolutionary war.”

“Let’s all work together for anarchy!”

You haven’t spent any time with anarchists or understand their point apparently. Anarchists believe that people can live communally with community-sufficiency economics, they aren’t promoting some type of ‘every man for themselves’ chaos. It’s not irony at all and they been using technology to coordinate since the invention of the telegraph. Here is a book about it: http://www.amazon.com/Under-Three-Flags-Anti-Colonial-Imagination/dp/1844670376

I’m not saying this is what I believe in, just that your point isn’t very clever.

These are also the same people that are rioting because they’re demanding more government benefits.

“Anarchists” are just dumb liberals that think the stupid Circle A symbol looks cool. They have no real ideology or intellectual consistency.

      • http://twitter.com/CDA Collin D Anderson

Well, there are relatively few ‘anarchists.’ They’re mostly Anarcho-Syndicalists or Social Anarchists. Both embrace the welfare state. I’ll leave it up to you to judge the viability — it’s just also not necessarily an ideological contradiction.

How can people who believe that there should be no government embrace the welfare state? I don’t see you how can have a welfare state without taxation to fund it and a bureaucracy to administer it.

          • Anonymous

You can’t. That’s why this entire “social anarchist” movement (etc etc, they have as many different names as they have members) is a farce.

They are as much anarchists as they are useful productive members of society.

I’m thinking they chose to rebrand themselves because at their various universities EVERYONE is a self-identified socialist. So it isn’t cool or edgy anymore.

Socialism and anarchy are complete opposites.

You can support one or neither but not both.

          • Kingfisher

You can support one or neither but not both.

You can if you’re some lame college student who barely graduated from a public school and is majoring in “gay studies.”

Exactly right. But, anarchism and true communism are very much the same peas in a pod.

You haven’t spent any time with anarchists or understand their point apparently

It’s been my experience that most “anarchists” are kids (teens and early 20-somethings) that have been listening to too much “Rage Against the Machine” an “Greenday” and just think calling themselve’s “anarchists” sounds “cool”. All leftist thinking is naive head in the clouds type stuff to some extent or the other, but the material that comes from “anarchists” is even more so.

      • Soldout

Your limited experience is hardly a worthwhile starting point for your analysis. This is proven by your claim about the age of most anarchists.

Your viewpoint is laughable. You’re just a middle-aged white dude who thinks he understands everything, because you happened to be born at the right time in the right place to the right parents.

Personally, I was also born at the right time in the right place to the right parents, however I able to put myself in other people’s shoes, rather than dismissing them as you do for not having what you consider to be the right shoes.

        • Good Ol Boy

And your little rant had exactly what to do with “anarchists”..?

        • Anonymous

Sure thing sparky. Your parents apparently never showed you how to clean a house.

These anarchists are nothing more than educated animals who contribute nothing positive to society, and they should be removed from the gene pool, violently if necessary.

Anyone who supports their stupidity is, well stupid.

          Hello petey.

So you’re saying their name is completely antithetical to their goal. Which is exactly what William Teach said.

    • http://www.thepiratescove.us/ William_Teach

In understand their point, and I understand what they supposedly stand for. The newest anarchist movement grew in the late 1960′s, and wanted increased collective responsibility, with less government involvement in our lives, while destroying those same government institutions which serve to paralyze individuals and small groups (think communes). They also reject all private ownership of property, which should be given to the communes, rather than any government. They advocate extreme violence in order to get what they want.

What I was highlighting is that this movement, which has always been about weak cohesiveness, banding together in large groups to push individuality and small group living.

I’ve always laughed when I see these trustafarian faux anarchists claim the title. Anarchy means no organization, no coordination, and no government. They aren’t anarchists, they’re just would be violent socialists.

    • Anonymous

      “trustafarian”

Hilarious! I’m going to tuck that away for my own use if you don’t mind.

      • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

Seems fair, I got it from someone else.

  • Anonymous

Ninety nine times out of a hundred when you actually hear a self proclaimed anarchist describe his or her beliefs he’s simply a socialist who wants to install an extreme leftwing government via riots and mass murder rather than through manipulation of existing political institutions.

True anarchists are rare, and tend to keep to themselves and live in the backcountry. They don’t live in the cities, march, riot, and get generally pissed off when the government doesn’t hand them more money.

who had asked their comrades to organize and coordinate a global “revolutionary war.”

I thought war was never the answer.

Time for the libs to scrape the Mahatma Ghandi/John Lennon pro-peace bumper stickers from their cars.

Lennon was a supporter in finance and spirit of the IRA, the USSR and who knows what else. He was hardly a supporter of peace.

      • Kingfisher

Whatever Lennon supported, libs supporting violence is acceptable because it’s for a “higher purpose.” Whatever that means, it’s still crap.

No peace initiative ever succeeded because of the work of some singer/songwriter. It’s easy to sing that war is never the answer when soldiers have died in past wars to protect your right to protest war.

The problem with stupid people is that they don’t realize that they are being stupid.

  • Wiff O’Grapeshot

Let anarchists live in anarchy. Have them declared “outlaw” in the old sense of the word: Outside of the protection of the law.
Anyone can do anything to them (including murder), and the law will do nothing to protect or prosecute.
