Regarding the Obamessiah’s overseas media extravaganza, Britain’s left-wing Guardian remarks:

Barack Obama has found his people. But, unfortunately for his election prospects, they’re German, not American.

Why not? Germans invented socialism, and have spent two generations wallowing in the sort of ethnic guilt Obama is hoping to ride to the White House. But even among Germans, not everyone is buying:

The Hollywood-staged Obama event for a man who has yet to ascend to the presidency didn’t sit well with all the Germans. Germany’s Stern magazine carried the headline “Barack Kant Saves the World.”

One of their columnists, Florian Güssgen, wrote: “The man is perfect, impeccable, slick. Almost too slick … Obama’s speech was often vague, sometimes banal and more reminiscent of John Lennon’s feel good song ‘Imagine’ than of a foreign policy agenda.”

As for the allegedly massive crowds that watched Obama apologize for America at Hitler’s seat of power, they were largely drawn by a free rock concert, and probably numbered closer to 20,000 than the often-repeated 200,000.
