Greed And Stupidity Not “The Banking Crisis” Caused This Mess
Written By : Melissa Clouthier

I’m sick of the euphemisms in the media about this recession. It’s the same old language assault. Joe Smith didn’t murder John Brown. Oh no, John Brown died in “alleged gun-related violence” or some such nonsense. In the case of the economy, greedy home buyers, lenders, and stupid government policy didn’t cause this economic mess. Oh no, the “banking crisis” and “credit crunch” magically happened.

Stupid people caused this problem, plain and simple. And now, stupid people are being rewarded for their stupidity. And smart people are going along with it, kinda, because they’re afraid the stupid people will take the whole economy down the hole with them if the smart people don’t help out.

And look what the stupid people, specifically Congressional Democrats, are doing now:

House Democrats unveiled a $410 billion spending bill on Monday to keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year, setting up the second political struggle over federal funds in less than a month with Republicans.

The measure includes thousands of earmarks, the pet projects favored by lawmakers but often criticized by the public in opinion polls. There was no official total of the bill’s earmarks, which accounted for at least $3.8 billion.

The legislation, which includes an increase of roughly 8 percent over spending in the last fiscal year, is expected to clear the House later in the week.

Democrats defended the spending increases, saying they were needed to make up for cuts enacted in recent years or proposed a year ago by then-President George W. Bush in health, education, energy and other programs.

Greed and stupidity rule the day. It’s a good time to be stupid.
