How about “Despair! It’s More of the Same!”
It’s hard to understand, I know, but: the Obama campaign thinks their old “Hope and Change” slogan won’t work this time around.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Winning The Future. Greater Together. We Don’t Quit.
They may not be official but those are all phrases that could in one form or another be candidates to become President Barack Obama’s re-election slogan.
Advisers say a fresh slogan to replace the winning “Change we can believe in” mantra of 2008, is unlikely to appear before Obama knows who his Republican opponent will be…
Well I’ll be damned. No more Hope? Hey, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’ve had nothing but hope since President Obama was elected. I hoped his agenda would fail. I hoped he’d renege on some of his anti-Bush promises. I hoped Republicans could take back enough seats to block him in 2010. I hoped he’d become a one-term president.
Dunno about you, but I’m still full of Hope. Hope! For the future!
So he can keep the hope, if he wants. Okay by me. I suppose he does have to dump the “change” part, though. What’s he supposed to change, exactly? The last three years?
Yeah, I wish. Hey, that’s it: “Hope and Wishes!” It’s perfect!
I’m available for consultation. Very reasonable rates.
Oddly, that’s not one of the options they’re considering:
Obama’s surrogates have roadtested some slogans in recent months, including “Winning The Future…”
…which, I think, the Cleveland Browns have been using the last eight seasons…
…and “Greater Together…”
…which sounds like something old hippies would chant in the commune, which, of course, President Obama would never visit.
“We Don’t Quit,” though, was my favorite. As in: “you may be beating us by six touchdowns, but by God we’re still going to come out onto the field, and we’re not going to cry!”
