Ines Sainz: The Woman Who Cried Wolf Whistle
Written By : Lori Ziganto

This past weekend, the woman billed by her employer  as Mexico’s “Hottest Reporter” entered the locker room of the New York Jets football team to conduct an interview. She was wearing the totally demure outfit pictured above. Shockingly, the locker room full of testosterone-laden men noticed that she’s more than a bit attractive and catcalls, whistling and leering ensued. Enter the usual suspects: the media and “womens groups“, like the Association for Women in Sports Media. And the ever annoying and always wrong Joy Behar.

I’m infuriated that this incident happened. I’m not infuriated by the alleged incident itself; I’m super ticked that the inanity required me to read about sporty thingies. And to watch Joy Behar, a woman who could turn me into a misogynist merely by opening her pie hole. In this particular interview, Sainz implies that she was going to let it go, as she should have, until the media and women’s groups stepped in. Naturally; never let a catcall go to waste! Always use it as a way to further enshrine women as poor little victims.

However, subsequent interviews with Sainz show that she didn’t need much prodding to whine and complain. Via aolnews.com:

Yes, she wears low-cut shirts, tight jeans and has photos on her employer’s website showing her in a bikini. But that has nothing to do with being a professional sports reporter for Mexico’s TV Azteca, she said today.

“It’s my style,” the 32-year-old television journalist told George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” She’s not trying to elicit leers, she said. “It is my style for all my life.”

And she has no plans to change.

“I’m not trying to provoke anything,” she told Meredith Vieira on NBC’s “Today” show this morning. “I don’t think I need to change. They are going to change.

Was it boorish and crass behavior on the part of the New York Jets? Sure. But, who ever claimed that professional football players are the epitome of chivalry? You think one would know that, having worked in the sporty field for years. Secondly, it’s not unexpected at all. On this, the science is settled: men like – and like to look at – hot chicks. I’m pretty sure that’s why she’s featured in a bikini on her website.

Moreover, how is it equality if you require other people – and the workplace itself – to change so that you can do the job? Equality is doing the job as is. She also tweeted that she wanted to die of embarrassment. Listen, I’m a broad and that’s a lie. If I entered a locker room, full of a bunch of athletic men in their prime, wearing a shirt and jeans so tight that you could practically see my ovaries, I’d die of embarrassment if there were NO catcalls or whistles.

I know. As a conservative woman that must be part of my Stockholm Syndrome, right? Or perhaps it’s because unlike my liberal counterparts’ embracing of a perpetual victim hood, I, instead, embrace all aspects of  my gender. I have no problem looking pretty while opening a can of whoop ass when doing my job. See, I”m not a simpleton and can multi-task!  I also know that if one appreciates how a woman looks, it certainly doesn’t preclude them from also appreciating her talents, her work nor anything else. Well, at least it shouldn’t. Evidently, that isn’t supposed to be possible and men are supposed to politely avert their eyes when confronted with a nice rack and shapely arse.

Sainz seems to understand that in her statement below, but apparently the sweet siren call of grievance mongering is too seductive to ignore:

Pressed on the issue of how she dresses, and whether the bikini photos and the plunging necklines invite unwanted attention, Sainz said she chooses clothing that she considers attractive. “All [women] like to be attractive,” she said. “In Mexico, I’m very well known for my image and my work.”

That’s it in a nutshell. She chooses to look attractive. She wants to look attractive. Being attractive is, in fact, part of her image and it is actively pursed by her employer and Sainz herself. Yet, we are to be outrageously outraged – when men find her attractive? Here’s an estrogen-insider secret for all the politically correct, totally aghast at human nature people; most women want to feel pretty and they want to hear you say it. Hence, her clothing that accentuates all her, um, “positives”. It doesn’t make men evil and it doesn’t somehow magically remove the woman’s ability to do her job.

Teachable Moment: If you truly don’t want to be ogled and whistled at, don’t, you know, go into a male locker room sporting a camel toe.

See, there's one problem: the outfit she claimed to be wearing, the jeans, was not what she was wearing. That picture, which she tweeted, was actually from the soccer World Cup months ago. She was actually wearing this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BPW7PkaPw64/TCkXHFsPfKI/AAAAAAAAHpA/hFnqnmcQJmI/s400/101008-ines-sainz1.jpg

Certainly, the Jets players should have known better than to do what they did in the locker room, players attend classes on sexual harassment and such, and are reminded each year about how to treat women reporters, but, she is kinda lying about not being provocative.

    • UFKA_Smithwick

Do a google image search for her.

See if you can find a single picture that says “take me seriously as a professional, not a piece of meat”.

The one with her in a bikini, legs spread and biting her lip is pretty close.

      • D-Vega

        That's one of my favorites.

I would advise everyone to do a thorough Google image search, especially the site that is devoted to pictures of her rear-end.

For research purposes only, of course. So we can discuss the matter intelligently.

      • http://www.thepiratescove.us/ William_Teach

True, true. I can't quite go with the “she was asking for it”. Some of it, such as the balls being thrown near her, but, apparently some of the language used in the locker room went too far.

But, Vega is right. Research is great! :)

Was it boorish and crass behavior on the part of the New York Jets?

Who cares? They're football players, for God's sake, not choir boys. They live in a world of cursing, verbal abuse and extreme physical challenges. It's ludicrous to expect them to comport themselves in the same manner as would the most docile of liberals.

What boggles the mind here is that Ms. Sainz must be very used to dealing with the extreme machismo and preening egotism of the players and coaches of the Mexican Primera División football league. So why get so hot and bothered about the American equivalent of such behaviour?

    Three words: self-promoting narcissist.

  • baoxian

Yeah, this “I'm too sexy for the NFL” bit comes off totally phony. So she got whistled and catcalled. Big deal. Has she encountered men before? If she got groped, cornered, or raped, completely different story and I'd be 100% on her side. But this absurdity shows she's either trolling for a settlement from the NFL or doing the talk show rounds for self-promotion.

  • StanW

I am constantly amazed at the abject stupidity of some people.

So this 'reporter' wears suggestive and revealing clothing into a male lockers room after a football game, and is offended that the men in the locker room notice and comment on her?

This is akin to celebrities who work night and day, doing outrageous things, all in a quest to get noticed. Then, when they are asked for an autograph in a McDonalds, they explode in rage at being accosted in public.

I'm sorry she got her little feelings hurt. I'm sorry that a bunch of testosterone-hyped football players in a post-game locker room were actiong like a bunch of testosterone-hyped football players in a post-game locker room.

But the money quote is here… “I don’t think I need to change. They are going to change.“ So she can dress and act anyway she wants, but the men in the lockerroom do not get that same privilidge? Everybody must change to suit HER and HER lifestyle? How well she encapsulates the Liberal philosophy.

Being attractive is, in fact, part of her image and it is actively pursed by her employer and Sainz herself.

Maybe that's why Joy(less) Behar is so angry. Behar makes warthogs look attractive.

  • D-Vega

While this has been made a bigger deal than it actually was, it was still wrong of the Jets players.

They are professionals who are their workplace. The “boys will be boys” argument only goes so far. They must have a relationship with the media, and there are tons of attractive female reporters. Everyone, players/reporters, men/women, should be treated with respect. You are there to work/play, not harass women. Go do that on your own time.

Woody Johnson personally apologized, and the players will get a talking to, but that should be about it.

So it was wrong on a “1″ level, but it is at about a “6″ level now and needs to be nipped in the bud before it goes higher, and with that suspensions, fines, law suit, etc.

    • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

Meh, she was advertising and they tried to buy.

      • D-Vega

It's a good product. But it ain't a library. If it ain't for sale, you have to go to another store and stop loitering.

        • UFKA_Smithwick

They didn't grope her or anything.

They were merely exercising their first amendment rights.

          • D-Vega

You don't have first amendment rights at work, depending on the circumstances.

NFL players can be fined for NOT speaking to the media, or criticizing officials after a game.

They are at work, after all.

NFL reminds clubs of media policy – AP

NEW YORK – The NFL sent a memo Wednesday reminding all 32 teams of its equal access and conduct policy toward the media following a TV Azteca reporter's comments that the Jets made her uncomfortable in their locker room last weekend.

“Women are a common part of the sports media,” the memo said, and included the policy. “By law, women must be granted the same rights to perform their jobs as men. Please remember that women reporters are professionals and should be treated as such. ”

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello also sent an email to the Association of Women in Sports Media restating league policy.

          • UFKA_Smithwick

Sounds like the issue is resolved then. No need for a further lawsuit.

I do wonder how often male reporters are granted access to womens locker rooms though.

Could make an interesting discrimination suit.

          • D-Vega

I would hope it is resolved. The Jets have bigger problems to contend with.

And yes, male reporters are in the locker rooms during the current WNBA playoffs.

          • UFKA_Smithwick

“And yes, male reporters are in the locker rooms during the current WNBA playoffs. “

Still not fair. NBA players are seen as sexually desirable. Whereas WNBA ladies . . . . well not so much.

Female reporters definitely get the better end of that deal. And I suppose gay male reporters as well.

          • D-Vega

Yes, they do. Because good looks provides better access.

            In more ways than one.

        • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

Sure, they were in poor taste and undignified, but I expect that's not unusual for a football locker room.

  • UFKA_Smithwick

Pretty sure that once you bill yourself as the “hottest” whatever you lose the right to complain about being objectified.

You did it to yourself sweetheart. Take the apology and let it drop.

Or you could always gain some weight, stop wearing makeup, wear unflattering clothes and see how you are able to succeed on your talent as a reporter alone.

  • Rickvid in Seattle

Wear a burka to prevent this sort of issue in future.

    • D-Vega

I think she would still look hot in a burka.

      • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

Curves like that are hard to hide.

  • Proud Infidel

So just why the hell are women allowed to go into men's locker rooms after a game anyway, insist that men be allowed into women's locker rooms after a game, and you'll have the PC'ers calling for your head on a pike!!

Yeah, I'm “Old School”, they shouldn't allow women in men's locker rooms, and vice versa. They're jocks, and they just finished a game, and here comes a cute blonde babe wearing spray-on jeans and a shirt highlighting her “chest accessories”, whaddya expect? DEATH TO POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!

  • gfchicago

Like I said before, I don't have any sympathy for the woman. If you put yourself out there, you deserve what you get.

  • Mooman

I don't agree. “Boys will be boys” doesn't excuse or explain away bad behaviour.

It especially doesn't explain away bad behaviour when you're on a sports contract worth tens of millions of dollars that explicitly says “behave well”.

That she's a beautiful woman isn't an excuse… They're getting paid a fortune and spend a lot of time with a *lot* of beautiful women. They can at least act like people others can look up to.
They were pretty much being assholes. Why are we even trying to defend their behaviour?

    • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

I think scantily clad hot women need to stay out of the locker room if they don't want men to hit on them.

  • Hl1943

Well Said! I'm sure she is a sports reporter due to her wide knowledge of all sports, especially football. I just wonder who helped her into those pants and if those uplifted boobs reflect Mother Nature or plastic surgery and a great bra. Inquiring minds want to know–for a laugh. Howard

  • Not Blind

Personally, I think the thumbnail of the author of this article is a good sight better looking than the reporter the article is about…

  • percivalcreek

Want to be treated like a professional? Dress and act like one.

Oh, and if you have a problem with some of the players, maybe – just maybe – you bring it up through proper channels. Tweeting about it reveals nothing more than a publicity grab.

    Next.

  • Pacific_waters

WHat an arrogant twit! The players have to change for her? It's a locker room. Female reporters who don't respect the players enough to afford them privacy in the locker room deserve no respect themselves. Toug if that upset the femanazis.

  • Ruprecht67

Reporters should not be in the lockerroom while athletes are changing. They have a certain right to privacy that is being forgotten here. I can't think of any other profession where that sort of thing is allowed, I don't care what your rush is. If you want an interview arrange to talk to the sweaty guys before they go into the lockerroom, otherwise wait.
