Jane Jamison From Uncoverage Has Passed Away
Written By : John Hawkins

I met Jane Jamison from Uncoverage through the Jaz McKay show where she was also a guest. After looking at the excellent quality of her work, I asked her to be a co-blogger on Right Wing News and she started writing for RWN. Earlier this afternoon, tragically, I was alerted that Jane had passed away this week-end.

Jane was a very private person and I didn’t know her all that well; so I can’t give her the kind of eulogy she deserves. However, I was fortunate enough to meet her at an event and got to spend a little bit of time around her. I’m glad I did because I found her to be a dedicated conservative, a good person, and a joy to be around.

I am genuinely sorry to hear that Jane is no longer with us. I hope she rests in peace and my condolences go out to all of her family and friends.

I don’t know who this is, but it does bring up a troubling question.  There’s no real etiquette build up around internet personas yet, and I’ve often wondered if I died who’d know and how they would find out.  My blog would stop being updated, but without someone to log on and explain, no one would really know what happened.

Seems almost like we should set up someone to get on with our accounts and let folks know what happened.

It’s interesting that you say that Christopher.  Right after the confirmation of my diagnosis and confirmation of the prognosis, the same thought occurred to me.  I left instructions as part of my will that one of my daughters was to inform a list of people and groups of my passing.  To make it easy for her, I put together a brief announcement to which she could add a date and her own comments and I supplied her with a distribution list.  It seemed awfully morbid at first, but in the end, it was business which had to be tended to.  Like a lot of people, I have friends with whom my relationship has been almost exclusively on line and some of my relationships go back to the mid-80′s with some of the Usenet friends I made back in those days.  We’re still in frequent email and online touch with one another.

I can recall reading some of Ms. Jameson’s articles here but I never got much a sense of her as a person from them.  In any case, I hope her passing was swift and without much pain.  I extend my condolences to her surviving kin and friends.

Thank you John.  I read your columns in Townhall every week.  Jane and I emailed on occasion.  I will miss her greatly.  This is a devastating blow.
