John Edwards: There is NO War on Terror!

Good news, everyone: there is no such thing as the War on Terror!

Well, at least not according to John Edwards:

“We need a post-Bush, post-9/11, post-Iraq military that is mission focused on protecting Americans from 21st century threats, not misused for discredited ideological purposes,” Edwards said in remarks prepared for delivery. “By framing this as a war, we have walked right into the trap the terrorists have set — that we are engaged in some kind of clash of civilizations and a war on Islam.”

That’s right, folks. John Edwards, who voted to invade Iraq, by the way, says there is no such thing as the War on Terror. It’s actually just a “bumper sticker slogan” put out by the Bush administration.

The RNC reacted, publishing a document entitled “Edwards Troop Profiteering”, pointing out that Edwards routinely asks for donations to support his anti-war efforts.

According to Edwards, playing war with the terrorists has only emboldened them, because of course we aren’t really at war, and all we’re doing is making the non-existent terrorists become angry. 9-11 was just a figment of our collective imaginations. Al Qaeda doesn’t really exist, and they certainly aren’t in Iraq, either.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised — this is, after all, the man who charged $55,000.00 to give a speech on, of all things, poverty; claimed to channel the spirits of brain-damaged children to win outrageous lawsuits against doctors for not performing cesarean sections; and charged his campaign committee $400 per haircut, as well as $250 in “services” from a spa and salon in Dubuque, Iowa as well as another $225 in “services” from the Pink Sapphire salon in New Hampshire which calls itself “a unique boutique for the mind, body and face”.

Doesn’t he sound like just the kinda President you’d want??
