More From The “It’s Enough To Make You A Libertarian” Department By Stephen Bainbridge
Congressman Henry Waxman on the baseball-steroid hearing:
“Given this problem, we’ve got to do something about it,” Waxman said. (Link)
Look. It’s bad enough that the House Committee decided to hold a
publicity stunt hearing on this topic. But if all the Congressmen were doing was abusing their investigatory powers so as to get some free TV time, I wouldn’t mind (too much, anyway). But why does the federal government have to get involved in what is basically a labor relations issue? Why not devote their time and effort to a real problem, such as – oh, I don’t know – the freaking deficit?
