Obama Vacations Have Cost $40 Million Total; $625,000 per month

Let’s just say Obama isn’t exactly a “man of the people.” Judicial Watch released documents showing Obama and his family have spent a $40 million–or $625,000 a month–on vacations and travel.

The numbers are hard to fathom. 3 million on golf trips? 8 million on a single trip to Ireland? Sickening!

Obama administration travel and vacation documents were released yesterday by Judicial Watch, and they reveal an unprecedented level of executive branch leisure spending.

According to public information: “As of 2001, the president earns a $400,000 annual salary, along with a $50,000 annual expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account, and $19,000 for entertainment. The most recent raise in salary was approved by Congress and President Bill Clinton in 1999 and went into effect in 2001.”

After all the sneering about how much time George W. Bush spent golfing, we haven’t heard a peep about this in the media. Shocking, I know.

To be fair, I think it’s silly to expect Obama, or any other President of the United States, to live like a pauper. Of course a job with such enormous responsibilities also comes with perks. But there’s absolutely no justification for spending this much. The liberal media spends a lot of time talking about “the 1% versus the 99%.” Can someone alert them that we have a regular Marie Antoinette in the White House?
