Ohio Democrat and Documented Wife Beater Rep. Charlie Wilson Is a National Disgrace

Democrat Congressman Charlie Wilson (OH-6) is a documented wife beater.:  Clara Wilson documented her abuse at the hands of her husband in great detail as evidenced here.

Health Care Overhaul

On October 1, 2010 President Obama signed a “Presidential Proclamation” denoting October 2010: as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.:  The: proclamation states:

Ending domestic violence requires a collaborative effort involving every part of our society.:  Our law enforcement and justice system must work to hold offenders accountable and to protect victims and their children.:  Business, faith, and community leaders, as well as educators, health care providers, and human service professionals, also have a role to play in communicating that domestic violence is always unacceptable.:  As a Nation, we must endeavor to protect survivors, bring offenders to justice, and change attitudes that support such violence.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim October 2010 as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.:  I call on all Americans to speak out against domestic violence and support local efforts to assist victims of these crimes in finding the help and healing they need.

Democrat Charlie Wilson is a sitting congressman for Ohio’s 6th district and, it bears constant repeating, is a documented wife beater.:  The fact that he has ignored this issue and has not stepped down from his congressional seat or as the Democrat: incumbent: as Jack Ryan was forced to do—on alleged charges—the double standard continues.:  But at what price?

Has this country become so partisan and heartless as to condone domestic violence because the abuser is a Democrat?:  What do we teach the children?:  Are there no consequences, no shame?:  All of this flies in the face of the White House message and awareness of having a National Domestic Violence Month.:  Has this country been reduced to just a show of speeches, showy proclamations, or are we going to hold people accountable for hurting others—physically or emotionally (as there are various levels of abuse).:  Shouldn’t our elected officials be held to higher standards to be superior role models for the children of America—and the world?

It is: pathetic: that: in America when those who hold the keys to power over the people are not held accountable for their knowledge, words, and actions.:  We see it repeatedly—the preferential treatment of government officials and the slap on the wrist when they get caught and then comes the: explanation of ‘I didn’t know,’ ‘I misspoke,’ or ‘oh, I’m sorry’.

Charlie Wilson needs to do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do, and step down as the: incumbent in his race and let the chips fall where they may because Charlie Wilson is a wife beater and has no place in the United States Congress under President Obama—especially after this event at the White House: to raise awareness for domestic violence:

“Nobody in America should live in fear because they are unsafe in their own home,” Obama said.

Biden, who led the fight for the Violence Against Women Act when he was in the Senate, said the law is “the single most significant thing I’ve ever been a part of. And that’s a fact.”

Finally, especially after the White House event with Joe Torre and Mariska Hargitay, it would behoove the President to call for Wilson’s resignation or his proclamation and speech are worth nothing, except embarrassment.
