Rachel Maddow, MSNBC’s Hijab Host, Embeds in Afghanistan!
Written By : Donald Douglas

There’s a Memeorandum thread on this one, so I thought I’d share over here.

See, “Rachel Maddow Reports From Kandahar; or, Just When You Thought DOD Got Beat Up on Rolling Stone and McChrystal…

Folks are getting a kick out of Maddow’s hijab.

Also at Blazing Cat Fur, Doug Ross, Moonbattery, Weasel Zippers, and WyBlog.

She ( “It” for you bigots) is doing a great job reporting from Afghanistan. Y'all should watch the “Rachel Maddow Reports from Afghanistan” tonight for yourselves instead of reading the biased translations on the conservative blogsphere, for example, on the WhitePower, oop's sorry, I meant AmericanPowerwebsite referenced here.

    • UFKA_Smithwick

Meh, if I wanted news from Iraq or Afghanistan that was horribly skewed to the left I would just watch . . . well any other news channel with the exception of foxnews.

      • Mahatma

well any other news channel with the exception of foxnews.

Well Fiza, there you have it.

If the reports don't support my skewed vision, I ain't gonna listen/watch/think about.

        • UFKA_Smithwick

I'm curious about your reading comprehension because I said nothing like that.

I merely point out that with the exception of Foxnews every other channel is biased to the left.

That does not = I only watch foxnews. Merely that a leftwing view of the war in Iraq/Afghanistan is hardly a novel thing that will draw a lot of excitement.

Sorry Mr. Maddow, but your bit has been done to death.

          • Fiza1

“I merely point out that with the exception of Foxnews every other channel is biased to the left.”

Every other channel? How about PBS nightly news? Is Fox news biased to the right? Give me a number from 0 to 10, 0 being neutral and fair, and 10 being a maximum bias to the right

          • tblrk2006

Yes, PBS biased to the left. Fox….? Not really biased to anything as far as the ticker goes. If your asking if they have more conservative show hosts, than yes. Are all their shows conservative? No. But the other 4 networks have ZERO conservative shows. Lets face it, you dont like anything that doesnt report obama in favorable terms.

          • Fiza1

“Not really biased to anything as far as the ticker goes.”

Are you for real? Do you mean the ticker said that Obama attended a “Madrass”? Do you want more examples of unbiased FOX news not on the ticker?

          • UFKA_Smithwick

So Rachel Maddow is an expert on the Middle east and completely unbiased because foxnews said Obama went to a Madrass?

            Interesting logic.

          • Fiza1

Did I say she was an “expert” on the middle east? She is certainly no less an “expert” on the middle east than the typical FOX host.
You said that FOX was NOT biased on “ticker” news. The Obama-Madrass story was NOT on the “ticker” news until FOX put the story out nationally. Do you want more examples?

          • UFKA_Smithwick

Your strategy here isn't exactly a winning one.

Allow me to explain: in response to my statement that with the exception of foxnews the media is generally biased to the left you went off on how biased to the right fox news is. Even assuming they are as far to the right as one can go, how does that discredit the notion that the rest are to the left?

I'll use an analogy: I make a statement to the effect of “no bears are solid white, with the exception of polar bears”.

You respond with “nuh-uh, I've seen plenty of white polar bears, I will show you pictures to prove they are white, so there!”

            Me: “Your strategy here isn't exactly a winning one. . . .”

          • UFKA_Smithwick

So to sum up in case you got lost.

I am disinterested in this publicity stunt because I have seen plenty of leftwing reporting on that part of the world.

She is biased to the left, so going by that and her previous work I can safely assume she will present this one in such a manner. So rather than adding anything to the discussion she will rehash old talking points. Likewise if Hannity were to start talking about this I would be disinterested. I've heard what he has to say and it is unlikely to change.

She may as well try to come to Houston and sell humidity in the middle of the summer; we've got plenty thanks.

          • TheDickNixon

            link it fiza

          • TheDickNixon

            Link them fiza.

          • mightysamurai

Are you for real? Do you mean the ticker said that Obama attended a “Madrass”?

Yes, the ticker that reported on the rumor started by the Hillary Clinton campaign that Obama attended a madrassa. That's the one.

          • TheDickNixon

            flagged for threadjacking. Again.

          • UFKA_Smithwick

Foxnews is slightly to the right. The others vary from extremely leftist (Maddow and NPR) to mildly leftists (PBS for instance).

But are you seriously denying the media bias? Really? That is sad.

I will then throw out some more controversial statements that will rock your world: the sky is blue, water is wet, and most of Obamas campaign promises were lies.

          • Mahatma

Foxnews is slightly to the right. And the sun is kind of warm.

          • TheDickNixon

            forget to log in fiza?

          • UFKA_Smithwick

            Allow me to quote myself:

Your strategy here isn't exactly a winning one.

        • TheDickNixon

Talking to yourself now Nixon sees.

    • TheDickNixon

typicaly liberal, resort to race when you lose the argument. Flagged for racist accusation (unfounded).

      • Fiza1

Loose the argument? Did you even watch the Maddow report from Obama? Or are you just reading the conservative blogsphere's translation? I think it is the latter.
Are you jealous that Rachel is better looking than your wife or girfriend or mistress, or those young hispanic girls that you seem to lust?

        • UFKA_Smithwick

          You honestly think she's attractive?

Well to each their own I suppose. I guess it beats more poetry to Michelle Os biceps, or swooning over Pelosi.

Personally though I like my women to look like women, rather than young boys.

        • TheDickNixon

You are the illegal alien pimp of the leftist on RWN. How is your wife fiza? She jealous of those underage illegals you consort with? Why would Nixon watch MSNBC? Are you stating they are totally without bias to the left and the Administration?

          • Mahatma

That is really sick Nixon. You are a jackass.

          • TheDickNixon

Whats the matter fiza, you use the wrong posting name?

Nixon is your better, don't ever fucking forget it.

  • UFKA_Smithwick

Whoa, he kind of looks like Andy Dick in that picture. The hijab isn't doing you any favors lady.

Besides, why not dress like the liberated independent woman you are (apparently that means pant-suits) and proudly proclaim your freedom and sexual orientation to the people of Afghanistan? Surely they will appreciate your many defenses of radical Islam and condemnations of the US and will treat you like a queen.

And definitely, definitely not stone you to death.

It is always cute when these self-hating entitled leftists try to “go native”. Just don't stray too far away from the local US army base or those poor downtrodden folks crushed under the heel of American imperialism will likely murder then rape you.

  • Crimsonfella

Liberal reporters have no right to be trusted with the news they spew. They lied about Iraq and the progress that was being made all the while reporting about how we could'nt win,we are losing too many men,etc in Iraq.

It got so bad that Obama ran on pulling the troops out of Iraq(he even used it to beat Hillary in the democrat primaries),we were preached to by liberals and liberal reporters who spewed that we should'nt even be in Iraq that Saddam did'nt attack us.

And yet the whole time it was just twisted news and a bunch of lies in order to smear the Bush administration and help Obama get elected by not reporting the facts about the progress that was being made in Iraq.

I'm talking about stores opening up,the economy growing(even in a war),how they got the oil flowing so Iraq could sell it(I thought it was a war for oil libs?),and how iraqi citezens themselves got tired of Al Qaida attacking them trying to force them to fight against american troops and so Iraqi citezens started helping US and Iraqi security forces by turing in Al Qaida members and telling them where Al Qaida were so they could be taken out, etc.

None of this was reported and unless you knew where to get your news from you were totally blind to what was really going on in Iraq watching the US lib media machine.

And now this lib reporter expects us to trust her reporting now? It ain't gonna happen! MSNBC went right along with the lies along with the rest of the lib media ABC,CBS,CNN,etc and made everybody think we could'nt win in Iraq.

Well liberals we are still in Iraq, Obama has not and will not pull out the troops from Iraq you lying bast*rds!

People please do not trust what MSNBC reports on about Afganistan they have proven how much they lie and twist the news to help the democrat agenda.

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com Martin Hale

Just to add another dimension to this discussion I just read that CNN International fired Octavia Nasr, a senior editor for their Middle Eastern desk, for the tweet she posted Sunday after the death of Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah in Lebanon in which she said he was “one of Hezbollah's giants I respect a lot”.

Even CNN International was forced to recognise that her bias in an area directly within her area of concentration “compromised” her ability to do her job. She'd been with them for 20 years. One has to wonder how much her bias has influenced coverage over the past 20 years, just as one has to wonder how much Mr. Thomas' biases influenced her coverage of news stories over the countless years of her tenure.

News organisations have an informal but important social obligation to vet potential staff in order to be able to produce a fair, balanced and reasonably objective news coverage product. Unfortunately that informal obligation appears to have been abrogated sometime during the 1960's, lost under the crushing weight of the organisation's own set of biases.

  • D-Vega

The right makes fun of Ms. Maddow's appearance and sexuality, because she consistently slaughters them on the points. She is one of the best at her craft, and the right hates her for it. I have been listening to her for years, she is a righteous liberal.

    • TheDickNixon

She is one of the best spinners of facts, that is true.

      • D-Vega

No, she is articulate and supports her positions with facts.

        • TheDickNixon

          for MSDNC

          • D-Vega

Please keep in mind, Nixon, that with Glenn Beck, Fox & Friends, and Sean Hannity, Fox News has become nearly a total laughing stock.

          • Mediumheadboy

Doesn't say much for CNN and MSNBC that they're being destroyed in the ratings by a “laughing stock,” now does it?

          Mother Fockers!!!

There is your idol DV. Took 30 seconds to find lots of instances of lying. How you could vouch for Madcow really damages your credibility and judgement.

          • D-Vega

That's the best you got Nixon? What a joke. You should know better.

The first one was an error, Rand did say usually, but then again the paper also endorsed several Reps in the past. So that's not “usually”.

The second cites articles from The Nation magazine, but doesn't provide any links to support, so that one is disqualified on incompleteness.

The third one was not a lie, MoveOn.org never produced or ran any such ad. That ad was part of a contest and was a finalist. That's why your boy at the examiner had to post a “clarification”

            http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-268-Right-Si

The chart is the fourth one clearly says “ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION”. So yet another FAIL.

It only took me 25 seconds to blow your nonsense out of the water. Stick to making fun of Maddow. You'll never win on points.

            Thanks for playing.

          • Living_Right_In_CA

“The first one was an error, Rand did say usually, but then again the paper also endorsed several Reps in the past. So that's not “usually”.

No Rand Paul said it was not unusual for the Courier-journal not to endorse candidates. Madcow changed that to “never”.

So now you both are lying!

“The second cites articles from The Nation magazine, but doesn't provide any links to support, so that one is disqualified on incompleteness.”

No it provides links to the articles in Harper's Magazine becuase that is where Naomi Klein wrote about those topics not in The Nation like Madcow said. How can you link to a story that was sourced wrong by Madcow! LMAO

Yeah the clarification was they ran it on their website until RNC asked them to take it down. I'm sure no one saw it… idiot.

“The chart is the fourth one clearly says “ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION”. So yet another FAIL.”

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? So a inflation turned a $128 billion surplus in 2001 into a $1.5 Trillion deficit? Interesting math.

God you are so blinded with ideology. Admit it Madcow is a lying hack. Not all the time, just far too often to trust.

          • blkdragon

Hay now, lets not confuse Maddow with Madcow.
Maddow is a leftist opinion show anchor for whom I would support the forced use of a Hijab.

Madcow is a controversial conservative radio host out of Chicago. His show is way more entertaining than Maddow's could ever hope to be even when one disagrees with him.

          • Living_Right_In_CA

I'll let you validate this one, if you dare…

RACHEL MADDOW: Clinton took the oath during an economic downturn, but that was a romper room compared to today's down-crash.

          • Living_Right_In_CA
          • Christopher_Taylor

So what she said were mistakes and lies, but you don't consider them very bad ones. Got it.-

        • gfchicago

You mean her version, which by the way is not based on anything in reality.

    • Mahatma

Agreed. She is a very, very smart lady, vega.

    • Christopher_Taylor

I've never been terribly impressed at her rhetoric or her arguments but maybe I caught her at a weak point. Repeatedly.

Then again, saying what you want to be true is often considered “brilliant” by the left. Just look at how smart they think President Obama is.

      • D-Vega

I didn't say anything about brilliant. I said she slaughters you guys on points every time. She's been doing it for years.

        • Living_Right_In_CA

The famous “'cause I said so” arguement from DV..

        • Christopher_Taylor

I just haven't seen anything remotely like that. Given I am not a fan so I don't watch her much, and read her rarely but all I've seen from her is boilerplate leftist talking points.

I guess when you're so in the tank politically for one side or another “things I agree with” equals “trashing my opponents.”

    • blkdragon

      LOL.
Thanks Vega. I needed a good laugh.

    • UFKA_Smithwick

I've listened to her as well. She strikes me as the lefts version of Rush Limbaugh. Namely that she will present a piece of news then go off on a tangent about how this proves the republicans are evil.

      She's a solidly average reporter.

  • TheDickNixon

fiza is pete moss and mahatma

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com Martin Hale

OK, I'm not understanding why such stürm und drang is being generated over a teevee host whose Neisen ratings are, well, let's just say unimpressive and leave it at that, and who works for a cable outlet which itself is hardly stunning the world with its ratings and ranking. To my way of thinking, that makes her a minor celebutard on a minor player in the cable business – a moderate fish in a smallish pool.

I don't care if they send her to Mars to cover the “global warming” occurring there. I won't be watching. And apparently a whole lot of others won't as well, judging by her numbers.

    • Fiza1

I don't always agree with you, but you sound intelligent and educated based on your grammar and vocabulary in your posts. I bet you don't watch/listen to Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh and the rest of the non intellectual types of sideshows that are the political equivalent of the Hollywood gossip shows, for example, ET.
If you watch TV at all, you are probably the “Charlie Rose Show” type.

      • StanW

        Your arrogance astounds me, Fiza!

      • http://conservativebootcamp.com Martin Hale

Intelligent as I may or may not be, I'm struggling to grasp what your point was in that comment, so I'm not really sure how to respond.

Agree or disagree with the point I made about Ms. Maddow as you will and I can't tell from your remarks. But in any case, projecting your fantasies onto me about what I may or may not watch on teevee is a fruitless and pointless venture from my point of view. Unless, of course, you're only doing so in an attempt to co-opt me in some way into the rather dogmatic narrative your persona here manifests, in which case I'd rather you didn't, thanks.

        Cheers.
