So what you’re saying is, Tennessee Democrats are too stupid to know who they’re voting for. Is that what you’re saying?

Because it seems like that’s what you’re saying[1]:

The Tennessee Democratic Party disavowed its own U.S. Senate nominee Friday, announcing that he is “associated with a known hate group” – in this case, a conservative advocacy organization.

“The only time that Clayton has voted in a Democratic primary was when he was voting for himself,” said the Tennessee Democratic Party in a statement. “Many Democrats in Tennessee knew nothing about any of the candidates in the race, so they voted for the person at the top of the ticket.

Democrats in Tennessee knew nothing about the candidates running in a U.S. Senate primary?

A U.S. Senate race is no little thing, you know. It’s actually quite a big thing, as I – a Wisconsin resident and voter – can personally attest, having lived through the four-man Republican primary currently ongoing in my own state.

Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t go to the polls next week entirely ignorant of the candidates. I turn the radio on. I look through my mail. I pay semi-close attention, and I consider my vote to be important.

But then, I’m not lazy, ignorant, and irresponsible, like Tennessee Democrats are. And hey, that’s not me saying that. That’s the Tennessee Democratic Party saying it.

As for this:

“Mark Clayton is associated with a known hate group in Washington, D.C…”

The “hate group” is Public Advocate USA. Here’s their “about” page[2] – they’re pro-traditional marriage/anti-gay marriage, and whole-hog pro-life, or so it looks. That’s all I know about them. You can make up your own minds.

Tell you what, though: a Republican who backed whole-hog gay marriage, abortion-on-demand, expanded hate-crime laws would never, ever win a Republican primary in Wisconsin. Not at any level.
