Student Says Community College Rejected Him Because Of His Christian Faith
It looks like more and more practicing Christians are being driven into “the closet.” A student was denied entry into a radiation therapy program at Baltimore County Community College because of his faith.
This isn’t just speculation–the director of the program explicitly stated that the field “is not the place for religion.”
David French, an attorney with the American Center for Law and Justice, has an email written to his client by Adrienne Dougherty, the director of the college’s radiation therapy program.
“I understand that religion is a major part of your life and that was evident in your recommendation letters, however, this field is not the place for religion,” she wrote. “We have many patients who come to us for treatment from many different religions and some who believe in nothing at all.”
Uh, question: do you know anything about your last radiologist’s religion? Where did Dougherty get the idea that Jenkins’ religion would interfere with his job? It’s a bizarre accusation, and one I suspect is baseless. Dougherty probably just hates Christians, and therefore isn’t going to admit one to the program, end of story.
