The Daily Kos Post Of The Day: George Bush Is Responsible For The California Wildfires

If you regularly read liberal blogs, one thing you will quickly learn is that all roads inevitably lead to George W. Bush.

If Bush supports a policy, it’s bad, merely by virtue of the fact that Bush supports it. If Bush says something, it’s a lie, merely by virtue of the fact that Bush said it. If something bad happens, Bush must be responsible somehow, because he is the root of all evil in the world.

The latest tragedy that Chimpy McBushHitler is apparently the cause of is the California wildfires.

Now you may be thinking, “Gee, those wildfires are terrible, but how can the Kos kids blame Bush for them? After all, wildfires in California aren’t exactly an unusual occurrence.”

If that’s where you’re coming from, have no worries, because the aptly named Daily Kos diarist, “The Wonder Moron” — no really, that’s his nickname — will explain it all to you,

And Now California: The disasters of the Bush Era

…Now comes California’s turn. Unfortunately, all these locations happen to be areas where the poltics are mostly Democratic. So don’t expect much help. In the past, Bush takes the opportunity to show up, make a speech, make a bunch of promises, then moves on.

The pattern is established.

…Global warming appears to cause the subtropical highs that sit over the oceans to enlarge and intensify. On the east coast this means more intense tropical storms. On the west coast, this means that the sub-tropical highs that traditionally drifted north from below 30 degrees latitude during the summer – creating the Mediterranean climate of dry summers and wet winters – stay longer and maybe projecting themselves farther north during the winters. As a result the amount of rainfall in the west and snowfall in the rockies during the winter diminishes. In essence the desert that exist on the west coast of all continents below 30 degrees (the Sahara in North Africa, Kalahari Desert in South Africa, the Atacama in Chile, Great Sandy Desert in Australia) seems to be expanding northword.

Global warming is a long on going process. The storms and fires that it spawns may not have been avoidable in the short term of Bush’s presidency. Nonetheless, he has done absolutely nothing to help the situation, in fact his policies have ignored and exacerbated the problem. Like 9/11, like Katrina, global warming gets nothing more than speeches from Bush. The substance is woefully lacking.

As of now, four corners of our nation have been touched by movement conservative ineptness. Unfortunately the worst of these catastrophes have touched areas that are politically ‘blue’. By the time they touch ‘red’ areas, it will likely be too late. Perhaps, when people in red states see the latest catastrophe they will finally begin to put two and two together. In the mean time they are holding us all hostage to an ever unfolding disaster. 50 years from now we will still be dealing with the after affects of the disastrous Bush presidency.

Even if mankind were responsible for global warming and even more implausibly, if George Bush were personally responsible for the manmade global warming, the United States hasn’t gotten any warmer during Bush’s tenure and it was actually hotter in the United States back in the thirties than it is today.

But, of course, if they weren’t claiming Bush was responsible for the fires via global warming, they’d be blaming some other policy of his, or maybe even accusing him of having the fires set to kill Democrats. Then, if that didn’t fly, they’d blame him for not putting enough effort into the rescue efforts. If the rescue efforts go well, they’ll say that it shows Bush hates black people, because the people being victimized by fires in California are mostly white while black people suffered disproportionately in New Orleans.

However it turns out, the key thing to remember is always that,

“If Bush supports a policy, it’s bad, merely by virtue of the fact that Bush supports it. If Bush says something, it’s a lie, merely by virtue of the fact that Bush said it. If something bad happens, Bush must be responsible somehow, because he is the root of all evil in the world.”
