The House Vote on the Senate Healthcare Bill Is the Final Vote; Obama Will Sign It Into Law
Written By : SusanAnne Hiller

Americans need to understand the devastating significance of the House vote on the Senate health care bill set for March 18th. The Democrats have–by design–created the perfect storm to take over the US healthcare system, while providing an ideal distraction–reconciliation.

First, let’s examine exactly how we got here. In late December, while Americans were arguing that no one had read the bill, Leiberman was posturing to vote against the bill with a public option, and the debate on abortion continued, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) took an existing HOUSE-passed bill, H.R.3950–the Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009–and here’s how it unfolded:

10/8/2009:
Received in the Senate. Read the first time. Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under Read the First Time.
10/13/2009: Read the second time. Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders. Calendar No. 175.
11/19/2009: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure made in Senate. (consideration: CR S11578)
11/19/2009: Cloture motion on the motion to proceed to the bill presented in Senate. (consideration: CR S11578; text: CR S11578)
11/20/2009: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure considered in Senate. (consideration: CR S11826-11879, S11888-11903)
11/21/2009: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure considered in Senate. (consideration: CR S11907-11967)
11/21/2009: Cloture on the motion to proceed to the bill invoked in Senate by Yea-Nay Vote. 60 – 39. Record Vote Number: 353. (consideration: CR S11967; text: CR S11967)
11/21/2009: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure agreed to in Senate by Unanimous Consent.
11/21/2009: Measure laid before Senate by motion. (consideration: CR S11967)
11/21/2009: S.AMDT.2786 Amendment SA 2786 proposed by Senator Reid. (consideration: CR S11967)
In the nature of a substitute. emphasis mine

The GOP must have known what was about to happen next because they were united in voting “Nay” against this bill on November 21, 2009. Additionally, the Senate Amendment offered by Reid was none other than the Senate version of the healthcare bill.

Reid HAD to do this. Why? Because all legislation that raises taxes MUST originate in the House of Representatives and H.R. 3590 satisfies that requirement.

I will repeat that, Harry Reid switched the language in H.R. 3590 and replaced it with the Senate’s version of the health care system takeover in order to satisfy the requirement for all legislation raising taxes to originate in the House. The bill summary outlines the evolution of this bill:

OFFICIAL TITLE AS INTRODUCED:
To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees, and for other purposes.

OFFICIAL TITLE AS AMENDED BY SENATE:
An act entitled The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

For the record, Republicans did challenge this amendment substitution, but were defeated. The simple fact that the Democrats voted on Reid’s “amendment” is appalling and demonstrates their condoning of the abuses we are seeing unfold. Democrat Senators are now willing accomplices to the destruction and socialization of the US health system.

The deceptive practices to pass a government takeover of healthcare can be summed up as the ultimate betrayal by the Democrats against the American people in order to ram through their progressive, socialistic, freedom-stripping policies.

Furthermore, the Democrats talk of “reconciliation” or the nuclear option is nothing more than a diversion from what the real goal is–to pass the Senate version through the House and then have Obama sign it into law.

And once signed into law, does anyone really think that Obama will keep his promises of the “fixes” through the reconciliation process after he got what he wanted via the Senate bill? Seriously, he will have the healthcare takeover he wants, so why make the House and Senate suffer more.

In addition, I don’t think that the House will hold the bill to work out differences between the two chambers as is being floated. While it may be an optional maneuver, the Democrats need the tax increases to take effect now so they can offset some of their rabid spending.

The House Democrats have a choice: either stand with the American people and kill the bill or endorse the deception, betrayal, and bribes of Harry Reid, Obama, Pelosi, and the Senate Democrats, in addition to the destruction of the US health system. Either way, the American people will never forget.

Ha ha. Scared of a little change are you?

Maybe Sarah Palin can save you.

  • Jack Schite

The invented Republican/ Foxy News talking point du jour is that the Democrats intend to ‘ram health care reform down our throats’ even though ‘the American people don’t want it.’

Bzzz. That’s just wrong! First of all, when there is a landslide triumph for a party as there was in November, 2008, for the victor to actually govern and legislate is not ‘ramming’ anything down anyone’s ‘throat.’ It is doing what the people asked you to do. Obama campaigned on this issue, and presumably that fact had not escaped the electorate’s notice.

    -crooks and liars

  • Jack Schite

Here is what the Republicans “jammed” through on us:

    The illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, ending the lives of thousands of service members and millions of civilians, adding trillions of dollars to the deficit, allowing widespread corruption by private companies, some of whom benefited the administration directly;
    Torture, not just of terrorists but of innocent citizens too, ending habeas corpus and bringing down the reputation of the country among the global community;
    Warrantless wiretappings of Americans;
    The gutting of regulations in the financial and mortgage industries, paving way for the worst economy since the Great Depression;
    Massive tax cuts for the wealthy, born on the backs of the middle class–passed, by the way, through reconciliation;
Abandonment of our troops in Afghanistan, allowing the leadership of the Taliban and al Qaeda to resurge.
So the question for Mitch McConnell & Friends is who do you really think is “jamming” whom?

  • jimb123

    Um Jackie,
This post is about health care.

The dems could have passed a health care bill by now (along with the other items in their laundry list). The fact that they have not – despite having a large majority in the house and a filibuster proof majority in the senate for most of a year should tell anyone who is thinking – the health care is bad and the American people do not want.

  • jimb123

    er, health care bill

Honestly, if you weren’t such a pitiful, closed minded and ideological individual it’d almost be funny… instead it’s truly sad.

There is nothing you can say or do that will drag me into playing in the mud where you live sir. But do keep trying.

The OP is right of course. If this health care debacle is passed, against the will of the majority of the people, it will lead to a Republican majority in both houses come November and probably chimpy being a one term president. The Dems know this. They are deluded and naive fools but they are not completely stupid. My prediction is that they will not pass the bill and, despite their clear majority in both houses, they will attempt to blame the Republicans for the failure of the bill.

As to Jackie boy, have I mentioned today that he deserves to have his fingers broken with a claw hammer? It’s an apropriate penalty for cowardly forum trolling after all.

A couple of days ago someone here offered to buy a month of banner ad time if Jackie and any account associated with his IP were banned. I’m going to match that offer here now. If Jackie is given the boot, as he should have been quite some time ago for a variety of good reasons, and a site staffer comes on and confirms that he’s gone I’ll buy a 75$ banner ad for the site of my choice for TWO months!

when there is a landslide triumph for a party as there was in November, 2008

    Landslide? Now that IS funny…

Any sentient individual would recognize that, despite the Republican party running such a weak candidate, the Democrats only won the popular vote by around 8 million votes.

Now.. if you’d like a lesson in what a “landslide” actually looks like then all you need to do is look at the following:

    Richard M. Nixon 47,169,911 (520 electoral)
    George McGovern 29,170,383 (17 electoral)

    Ronald Reagan 54,455,075 (525 electoral)
    Walter F. Mondale 37,577,185 (13 electoral)

See, son, those are what we call “landslide” victories .. when your candidate can’t even break “20″ in the Electoral College and the popular vote is split by an number in excess of 10 million then you can call it a “landslide”

“filibuster proof majority in the senate”

nonsense. We had the numbers but not the true democratic voice, with several turncoats to progressive ideology which is the democratic party’s hallmark except when totally coopted by corporate interests rather than democratic interests.

What can we say? We hate lies, arrogance, and trolling. You give us all three. Why are you even here, if not to cause trouble and disrupt?

My double edge sword is that I can’t articulate lengthy responses on this iDevice so easily, so I often resort to calling you on your shit in a perfunctory manner.

That’s a pretty lame excuse for your childish one liner insults, child. My favorite so far has been “Christianity is harry Potter for adults.”. How is that line, obviously designed to cause a negative reactiona, not pure 100% trolling?
    Fuck you, little boy.

I’ve tried engaging republicans head to head but, in real life as well as this site, they quickly resort to personal attacks and name calling.

Well, you have no one to blame but yourself as YOU set the tone of how you get treated from day one. As a troll you deserve everything and anything you get. But I don’t believe that you engage Republicans as you do here in rea life for a moment. It’s as likely to be as true as that fictional bio that you keep repeating. Trolls like you are physical and moral cowards who throw verbal shit online beause they would never dream of doing so in person. If you talked to people and behaved in the real world as you do here, you would probably quickly get punched in the nose*. But it’s not likley to ever occur to you as you would never behave in person as you do online. I’m 100% certain of that.

*- Not by me, but my others. I broke a finger one time when I threw a punch at someone’s face and when they ducked I struck the top of their head. Never again. I prefer to attack the soft spots on my opponent’s body such as the stomach, kidneys, groin, throat, etc.

    several turncoats to progressive ideology

So you know, without question that these “turncoats”, as you call them, were 100% on board with the progressive mindset all along?

The progressive mindset is a political cancer … cropping up in full force every once in a while just long enough for the American people to get a nice healthy dose. Soon enough you and your kind will be driven into hiding once again .. either that or you might actually be forced to make your true agenda known.

I, personally, hope for the latter .. only then will you finally get the beat down you so desperately deserve. This is why I do not want to see you banned from this site, or any site for that matter. Keep screaming from the rafters that “this is your time” and that “payback is a bitch” and see what happens.

I only hope, my dear Jack, that the very people who have tolerated your bile for so long maintain the civility required to keep from handing you your head.

I’m still not quite sure were you get that “prison guard” thing. Perhaps it’s some prison rape fantasy that homosexuals like you have or something. That would seem to fit your personality. Who knows…

As for being banned, given that you have been banned more than anyone else here, probably more than all others combines, you have no room to talk about anything.

As to my statement that I will buy two months of ad time if jack the troll gets banned, I stand by it. I’m alot of things, but I don’t have a repuation of being a liar.

Ah, a legend in his own mind.

It always amazes me when “progressives” take their failings (or those of their movement) and make it the fault of anyone but them.epiu

    Examples:
    - Dems couldn’t pass health care because many of their members are not progressive enough. It couldn’t be because some Democrats actually listened to the ones who hired them (voted for them). Nah that’s not it. It was the evil Republicans.
    - Jack can’t submit articulate lengthy responses because he’s using a portable device. Waa. We’re supposed to realize that he’s more brilliant than us and just accept what he’s saying – even without proof.

As bugs would say “what a maroon”.

  • Rayzer

What healthcare take over are you talking about? There isn’t a public option in this bill, nor are there national exchanges.

Everybody wants to get rid of pre-existing condition clauses right?

Well, if you want that, then you have to have a mandate, otherwise the insurance companies will go broke. Everybody would buy insurance ONLY when they need it, meaning they won’t be paying into it every month, meaning the whole system would collapse.

With a mandate, the poor will require subsidies because forcing them to pay over 25% of their income for health insurance is just a way to keep the poor in the same rut forever. They would have no money for retirement or anything, and will most likely work until they die at a young age.

These three things are the majority of the bill. If you want to let insurance companies not pay for the treatments you specify, then keep voting against this bill. Meanwhile, insurance companies in California will raise premiums by over 30% and sit back and laugh at all of you.

  • http://TheNixonTape.Blogspot.Com Dick_Nixon

Nice new estimates today, showing the disastrous Obamateur economic policies will trigger Ten Trillion Dollars in deficit spending for the next ten years.

Nixon will not hold his breath waiting for liberals to defend this. Reminder that Bush’s largest defcit was $450 billion.

January 2007 marked the beginning of the economic collapse: The day the left took over the checkbook for Uncle Sam. An Inconvenient Truth.

  • TomahawkRED

Look I have tried to explain this before if you give the troll a voice and engage him he will continue to speak I would encourage you all to act like he doesn’t exist just like you would a screaming child. That being sait troll boy reminds me of the kid in school who always got stuffed into lockers or locked in dumpsters doesn’t he?

  • Living_Right_in_CA

I want the “pre-existing conditions” piece added to homeowners and auto policies. That way I can get a homeowners policy when my house catches fire and not before. Same with auto, I want a new policy for this dented up beast I bought so I can have the insurance company pay for its repairs. I am so fin sick about hearing about the “pre-existing conditions” requirement, it is moronic.
