The Komen Foundation Caves In To Bullies

From The Hill:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure has reversed its decision to cut off grant money to Planned Parenthood following an intense backlash from women’s groups and the left.

The charity did not promise that Planned Parenthood will receive additional grant money, but said it would change its policies in a way that would make Planned Parenthood eligible for further funding.

This is like someone saying they will still give money to the bully who just beat the crap out of them for not giving him their lunch money.

Let me wrap this up for you. The Komen Foundation decided not to give Planned Parenthood any more grants because Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms. Not to mention the charges being investigated by a congressional committee over misappropriation of funds and covering up cases of sex trafficking. The Komen decision had NOTHING to do with pro life issues, although I wish it had been. Nancy Brinker and the leaders at the Komen Foundation are not pro life. They never have been. Do you think they would have ever given Planned Parenthood money if they were pro life? Of course not. So, their decision, as they said, had nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with the fact that Planned Parenthood wasn’t using the money for the intended purpose.

Pro choicers flew into a rage when they discovered that Komen was no longer granting money to Planned Parenthood. Komen’s website, twitter, and facebook page were inundated with the most vile comments you can imagine from the left. Make no mistake about it. Planned Parenthood is the Goliath to our David. They profit well off abortion, netting $18.5 million last year. If Planned Parenthood wanted to provide free breast screenings and mammograms for women, they easily could.

Once again, follow the money. With Planned Parenthood you can just follow the blood trail as well.

It’s sad that the Komen Foundation lets politics and power bully them into not putting women’s health first.

Update: There may be a silver lining:

I just got off the phone with a Komen board member, and he confirmed that the announcement does not mean that Planned Parenthood is guaranteed future grants.
………………..

I asked Komen board member John Raffaelli to respond to those who are now saying that the announcement doesn’t necessarily constitute a reversal until Planned Parenthood actually sees more funding. He insisted it would be unfair to expect the group to commit to future grants.

“It would be highly unfair to ask us to commit to any organization that doesn’t go through a grant process that shows that the money we raise is used to carry out our mission,” Raffaelli told me. “We’re a humaniatrian organization. We have a mission. Tell me you can help carry out our mission and we will sit down at the table.”

This may be Komen’s way of putting water on the fire of the snarling left. We can only hope.
