The Left and Right Agree on Pres. Obama’s Oval Office Speech

I think Pres. Obama’s speech last night is best summed up by my 13 year old (who truly has a heart of gold). He said, “I feel sorry for Obama.” I asked why. He said, “Because he can’t seem to do anything right.”

That’s not only the feeling for this speech, but it seems to be the feelings of the political left and right. When Obama has lost Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, AND Joan Walsh, you know he’s in trouble. Oblermann reacted, “I don’t sense executive command.” Gee, ya think?

Obama’s answer seems to be to appoint a czar. Unless that czar is Bobby Jindal, I don’t think that is going to work either.

The problem with the oil spill disaster is that Obama is doing everything NOW that he should have done within about a week of the spill. In my opinion, this is simply part of being a rookie. We simply can never again elect someone who lacks experience to the toughest job in the world.

If you read through the Joan Walsh link, you will see that the problem the left has with Obama is that he isn’t left enough, fast enough. The problem Obama has is that he is smart enough to know that the country does not want to go that far left. He’d love to, I’m sure. But he doesn’t want to commit political suicide. He wants incremental change to the left. The kind no one notices until it’s too late and he is long gone as President. He has seen what happens when he goes too fast. A powerful movement called the Tea Party begins to fight back. So he’s stuck. Wandering in that place where there are no principles.

My son wasn’t being sarcastic. He honestly feels sorry for Obama. You know what? I do too.

Update: It seems that Obama has also lost that leader in the news, Jon Stewart:
