The Legions Of Potential Homegrown Jihadis In America

Michelle Malkin[1] caught the Associated Press putting a non-threatening title on a very disturbing story they titled, “Most U.S. Muslims reject suicide bombings[2].”

Here are some of the scary stats in that article that come from a Pew Research poll,

“One in four younger U.S. Muslims say suicide bombings to defend their religion are acceptable at least in some circumstances, though most Muslim Americans overwhelmingly reject the tactic and are critical of Islamic extremism and al-Qaida, a poll says.

…While nearly 80 percent of U.S. Muslims say suicide bombings of civilians to defend Islam can not be justified, 13 percent say they can be, at least rarely.

That sentiment is strongest among those younger than 30. Two percent of them say it can often be justified, 13 percent say sometimes and 11 percent say rarely.

“It is a hair-raising number,” said Radwan Masmoudi, president of the Washington-based Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy, which promotes the compatibility of Islam with democracy.

…Even so, U.S. Muslims are far less accepting of suicide attacks than Muslims in many other nations. In surveys Pew conducted last year, support in some Muslim countries exceeded 50 percent, while it was considered justifiable by about one in four Muslims in Britain and Spain, and one in three in France.

“We have crazies just like other faiths have them,” said Eide Alawan, who directs interfaith outreach at the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn, Mich., one of the nation’s largest mosques. He said killing innocent people contradicts Islam.

_Only 5 percent of U.S. Muslims expressed favorable views of the terrorist group al-Qaida, though about a fourth did not express an opinion.

…Only 40 percent said they believe Arab men carried out the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

…The survey estimates there are roughly 2.35 million Muslim Americans. It found that among adults, two-thirds are from abroad while a fifth are U.S.-born blacks.”

Oh, yes, Islam has its “crazies just like other faiths have them.” But, the difference is that with other religions, the “crazies” who are inspired to murder people because of their faith are one in a few million. With Islam, it’s one in four here in the US. That means if you’re talking to a group of twenty young Muslims in the United States, 5 of them probably think it’s OK to blow themselves up on a school bus full of young kids to protest Muslims killed in the crusades, Westerners being allowed to go to Saudi Arabia, the defeat of the Taliban or whatever the latest kooky fad is with the radical Jihadi set.

It’s also nice to know that percentage wise, our number of pro-suicide bombing Islamists, among young Muslims at least, is about the same as Britain, which is a nest of Islamic vipers, and just a little lower than France, where Muslim thugs burn cars every night and terrorize the women with rape gangs. Also, if the number of Muslims who support it is “50 percent” in some Muslims nations, shouldn’t we be rewriting our immigration laws to make sure than people from those countries can’t emigrate here?

Also, you may say that “only” 5% of Muslims in the US have a favorable view of Al-Qaeda, but given that we have 2.35 million Muslims in this country, that means we have 117,500 Muslims here in the US who support the people who flew planes into the World Trade Center and Pentatgon. That’s not a very comforting thought.
