Univision Reports More Disturbing Information About Fast and Furious

From The Daily Caller and ABC News:

The Spanish language television news network Univision unleashed a bombshell investigative report on Operation Fast and Furious Sunday evening, finding that in January 2010 drug cartel hit men slaughtered students with weapons the United States government allowed to flow to them across the Mexican border.

“On January 30, 2010, a commando of at least 20 hit men parked themselves outside a birthday party of high school and college students in Villas de Salvarcar, Ciudad Juarez,” according to a version of the Univision report in English, on the ABC News website.

“Near midnight, the assassins, later identified as hired guns for the Mexican cartel La Linea, broke into a one-story house and opened fire on a gathering of nearly 60 teenagers. Outside, lookouts gunned down a screaming neighbor and several students who had managed to escape. Fourteen young men and women were killed, and 12 more were wounded before the hit men finally fled.”

Citing a Mexican Army document it obtained and published, Univision reported that “[t]hree of the high caliber weapons fired that night in Villas de Salvarcar were linked to a gun tracing operation run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).”

That operation was Fast and Furious.

So, our guns were used to gun down 16 teenagers and wound 12 more.

If you are not familiar with Fast and Furious, and I don’t blame you if you are not, Fast and Furious is a gun tracing operation run by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives), where nearly 2,000 guns went unaccounted for. According to Mexico’s former Attorney General, approximately 300 Mexicans have been killed by Fast and Furious guns. Nearly 2,000 high-powered weapons “walked” across the border to Mexico and were used by Mexican drug cartels that murdered hundreds of innocent people, including these teenagers. You may remember a gun from Fast and Furious was also used to kill U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

According to ABC News, “Univision News identified a total of 57 more previously unreported firearms that were bought by straw purchasers monitored by ATF during Operation Fast and Furious, and then recovered in Mexico in sites related to murders, kidnappings, and at least one other massacre.”

Although the mainstream media have tried their best to ignore Fast and Furious, Univision, which is no conservative place, feels a bit differently about it since it is Mexicans that are being brutally murdered with our guns.

Texas is involved in this as well. From ABC News:

Other firearms under ATF surveillance were permitted to leave the country from Texas, according to court documents and the exclusive testimony of Magdalena Avila Villalobos, the sister of an ICE agent who survived a confrontation with cartel hit men on a rural highway in Mexico on February 15, 2011. His fellow agent, Jaime Zapata, was killed during the attacks.
……………………….

Earlier this year, Texas Senator John Cornyn had echoed Thomas’ assertions . Moreover, on September 25, Congressman Darrell Issa and Senator Charles Grassley, the politicians behind the Fast and Furious congressional report released in July, sent a letter to the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General, requesting an investigation into Avila’s and Zapata’s case.

Pres. Obama has falsely claimed that “Fast and Furious” began under the Bush administration. So, lets clear that up. Bush did have a gun walking program called, “Operation Wide Receiver” in 2006-2007, but that program wasn’t “Fast and Furious,” which started under Obama. The “Operation Wide Receiver” program didn’t lose track of 2000 guns, and it didn’t result in the murders of hundreds of Mexicans and an American Border Patrol Agent. Pres. Obama likes to blame Bush for just about everything, but this was an out and out lie.

Attorney General Eric Holder has always maintained he knew nothing about this operation. Writing about the report by the DOJ’s inspector general,: Lachlan Markay writes:

While the report does not claim that Holder misled Congress, it does say that those affidavits suggested gunwalking took place. Holder says he read those affidavits, and that they suggested no such thing. If the inspector general is correct, both claims cannot be true–either Holder did not review the affidavits, or he was not truthful about their contents.

More and more truth and horror is leaking out about the nightmare that was “Fast and Furious.” If it takes a Mexican news organization to do, then so be it. Our media gave up on truth and investigative reporting long ago. After all, it took Univision to actually ask Pres. Obama tough questions for the first time.
