What Does Mitt Have In Common With A Vampire? They Both Fear Crosses.

Via the Politico, we have a very odd story about Mitt Romney,

Gov. Romney has a new TV ad about killing the death tax. His unofficial slogan is now official: “Change begins with us.” Michael Luo of The New York Times has a front-page Political Memo, “Gingerly, Romney Seeks Ties to Christian Right,” observing that the former Massachusetts governor “has tried in various ways to signal his kinship with evangelical Christians, who represent a crucial constituency of the Republican base but consider his religious beliefs to be heretical.”

OOPS: The front-page photo makes it look like Romney was campaigning in a church in Merrimack, N.H. He held an “Ask Mitt Anything” event there and the whole room was rearranged so that Romney would not appear with a cross, which was blocked from the camera shot by a mammoth Romney campaign sign.

Who goes to a church for a campaign event and then gets all freaked out about being caught on camera with a cross? What’s supposed to be so scary about being filmed with a cross anyway, especially when you’re trying to appeal to social conservatives?

Odd, very odd indeed.
