Whose Fault Is It When Palestinian Kids Get Killed?

Here’s the slant from USA Today on 3 Palestinian kids being accidentally killed by the Israelis,

Three young Palestinian cousins were killed Wednesday in northern Gaza in what the Israeli army said was an attack on rocket launchers aimed at southern Israel.

The incident could set back peace efforts, just a day after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met in Jerusalem to try to move the process ahead.

Ehr…“set back peace efforts?” What peace efforts? How can you make peace with two squabbling gangs of terrorists, the strongest of which has a motto that goes, “No matter what you say or do, our goal is to kill all your people and take your land.”

You don’t make peace with people like that. You either contain them, kill them, or render them harmless.

But wait, there’s more…

The Israeli army said it spotted figures handling rocket launchers, and attacked them from the ground. Witnesses confirmed there were rocket launchers in the area.

The area, which is populated by civilians, is frequently used by Palestinian militants to launch rocket attacks against southern Israel. The army said 92 rockets and 118 mortars fell in Israel in the past month.

Dr. Moaiya Hassanain of the Palestinian Health Ministry said 10-year-old Mahmoud Ghazal and his 12-year-old cousin Yehiya Ghazal were killed, and their 10-year-old cousin Sara Ghazal was critically injured. She later died in the hospital, officials said.

…In a statement, the Israeli military said it “wishes to express sorrow” for the “use of teenagers in terror attacks.”

Here’s an honest question: The Palestinians teach their children that the greatest thing they can do in life is blow themselves up as long as they take some Israelis with them. They immerse them in terrorist propaganda from the moment that they can walk. They encourage them to throw rocks at Israeli troops. They launch terrorist attacks from areas the kids are in so that they can use them as human shields.

So, since the Palestinians put such a low value on the lives of their own children, why should anyone care that the Israelis accidentally greased a few of them? I mean the Palestinians view their own children as expendable assets in a war, not much different from bullets or rocket launchers, so why should the rest of the world care more about the lives of their children than they do?

Because the Israelis have something the Palestinians lack, basic human decency, they work hard to minimize the loss of civilian lives during fighting. When they fail at that, it’s almost always the fault of the Palestinians, who work hard to put their own civilians at risk, not the Israelis, and that’s how the whole world should look at it.
