Woman Found Guilty of Killing Autistic Stepdaughter By Duct-Taping Her Mouth And Tying Her to Wooden Board
Misty Stoddard has been found guilty of murdering her 11-year-old stepdaughter, Melissa, by duct-taping her mouth shut and tying her to a wooden board that Stoddard used for S&M games.
It took the jury only two and a half hours to convict Stoddard.
Melissa died of suffocation in December 2012 after being tied to a wooden plank with her mouth duct-taped shut…the court was told Melissa’s body was covered in injuries at the time of her death.
She had moved in with her father and his second wife – Misty – just five months earlier to escape her mothers abusive household in North Carolina.
