Having a giant pimple isn’t always reason for alarm… but when that pimple won’t go away, that means it’s time to see the doctor. And sometimes, there are some pretty disgusting things that come out of those pimples.

The video starts off with one man who visited his doctor when he had a giant, swollen, purple lump on his back. And when the doctor squeezed it, some truly disgusting stuff came out. But he wasn’t the only one with some nasty stuff hiding in a pimple:

Some commenters couldn’t help but notice that they didn’t seem to be the most hygienic procedures:

the only thing that really bothers me is how some of them are so unsanitary about it…. like some just freaking wipe it with a rag or not even… leave it and smear it all over the area.. cringe. i think I’ll be a dermatologist one day to avoid this

While others pointed out that a lack of good hygiene may be what let it get that bad in the first place:

Why would anyone let it get that bad

Thats the reason why they get these in the first place. Being very unsanitary. Taking showers regularly, washing your face, brushing your teeth, using rubbing alcohol for infections. They probably dont do these things.

Still, there’s apparently something strangely addicting about watching these videos:

Disgusting yet strangely addicting

it’s 2am on a friday and im sitting here watching people get their nasty ass pimples get popped, and im enjoying it

In case you’re wondering what these things actually are, it’s not clear. But many of the pimples are actually epidermoid cysts, the most common kind of cysts that you frequently see in the viral “Dr. Pimple Popper” videos.

Epidermoid cysts result from the reproduction of epidermal cells within a confined space of the dermis. The pasty contents are mostly composed of macerated keratin (wet skin cells), which creates this “cheesy” consistency, and there can be a pungent odor. An epidermoid cyst may have no symptoms and are typically harmless. Usually people seek removal but they don’t like the appearance of these bumps, or the cyst has ruptured or been inflamed or “infected” in the past.

Infection is definitely not a good thing, so don’t be like some of the people in this video and try to take care of it yourself. If you’ve got a giant pimple somewhere that won’t go away, go visit your dermatologist and let them pop it. And who knows? You might end up with a viral video on YouTube, too!
