ACLU Sues Government Over Use Of Drones In War Zones
Written By : William Teach

ACLU. American Civil Liberties Union. Really? Because it sure appears that they are (still) doing everything possible to not only protect Islamic jihadis, but, to make sure they have the information necessary in order to not be captured and killed by the US government. In my mind, this would be the very definition of “giving aid and comfort to the enemy”

The American Civil Liberties Union sued the federal government Tuesday to learn the use of unmanned drones for targeted killings by the military and CIA.

“In particular, the lawsuit asks for information on when, where and against whom drone strikes can be authorized, the number and rate of civilian casualties and other basic information essential for assessing the wisdom and legality of using armed drones to conduct targeted killings,” the ACLU said in a statement, announcing its action.

Why does it seem that almost every liberal group out there wants to provide information to the enemy? Personally, I think the fact that Obama has increased the use of drone strikes is way of putting a check on the positive box. I do actually hate opposing the president on everything, you know.

“The government’s use of drones to conduct targeted killings raises complicated questions – not only legal questions, but policy and moral questions as well,” said Jameel Jaffer, director of the ACLU National Security Project. “These kinds of questions ought to be discussed and debated publicly, not resolved secretly behind closed doors. While the Obama administration may legitimately withhold intelligence information as well as sensitive information about military strategy, it should disclose basic information about the scope of the drone program, the legal basis for the program and the civilian casualties that have resulted from the program.”

The scope? To kill Islamists. Legal basis? War zone. Constitution. Civilian casualties? The ACLU has never been concerned about the use of civilians as human shields by Islamists. The US military does everything possible to avoid civilian casualties. Unfortunately, there is that “war zone” issue. And Islamists who use civilians as human shields. Oh, and the fact that this is occurring in other countries, ones which are not American. How about just butting out, ACLU. Go bug some school because they had an evil Santa figurine.

They’re recruiting. The left is home to the radical activists and mad bombers these days (ELF, Bill Ayers, Jihad Jane, etc) and the ACLU would love nothing more than to spread sympathy for Islam and create more homegrown terrorism.

Both the ACLU and radical Islam oppose Western culture, freedoms, and capitalism. Both oppose the power, wealth, and hegemony of the United States. Both despise the US military.

The only difference between Bush and Obama is that the left expects Obama to be a willing participant in the demise of this country. So far he’s following the playbook domestically, but isn’t cooperating on foreign policy where he’s at least shown somewhat of a spine. Now the ACLU is trying to goad him into undermining and selling out the military like they expected him to.

“The government’s use of drones to conduct targeted killings raises complicated questions – not only legal questions, but policy and moral questions as well,”

Yeah, the ACLU has a history of being troubled by ‘moral’ questions. For instance, when they supported the Democrat idea of interning American citizens in WWII for the crime of being Japanese.

    Screw the ACLU!

Stain, it’s a little off topic but I am always looking for new information. When I google ACLU and Japanese internment camps I get contradictory information. Can you site me the sources for your info. These are the first four google links.

Yes, looking at the ACLU’s website is a fine way to find out the truth about the ACLU.

The National ACLU was behind Roosevelt’s Internment. The Koramatsu (sp?) case was brought by the Californai chapter of the ACLU without the backing of the National ACLU.

Only after the fact has the ACLU decided what a mistake the Japanese Internment was and scrubbed their history. But I’m sure you beleive that an organization that would divulge American military secrets and attempt to crush American Freedom of Religion would never lie about thier past.

Wouldn’t work, the ACLU would defend their need to defend themselves against American agression.

The ACLU is only against AMERICANS having weapons. That is the one civil liberaty they like to pretend does not exist.

Stan – remember the movie Ghostbusters? One of the catchphrases which came from that movie was “He slimed me.” Let me propose that a similar phrase be created for Jacqui – “He agitpropped me.”

    Brother, you’ve been agitpropped.

“Jameel Jaffer, director of the ACLU National Security Project”

So, Jameel Jaffer wants to know where, when, and how we’re gonna be killing Islamic fanatics? I’m sure Barack Hussein Obama won’t have a problem with letting him know.

    Allahu Akbar!

  • D-Vega

While the comments are a little out there, I would have to agree with Mr. Teach’s post.

There is no basis to oppose the use of drones in general.

We don’t want innocent civilians killed, but this is addressing it ass-backwards.

Keep splitting hairs, Stan. The issue was flying the U.S. flag while forming an prime military installation at an airport in a foreign country.

Vega, providing an opinion (and a fucking stupid one at that) is NOT destroying an argument.

I realize you think you’re God but that position has been filled for quite a while.

Maybe when you grow up and act mature, you can join the discussion. In the meanwhile, go to DU to throw your little childish tantrum.

How can you argue against a fool who is an expert at sticking his fingers in his ears screaming, “La la la, I can’t hear youuuuuuu!”

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

They are demanding information about how many people and who were killed in the drone attacks, as if this is not only critical information the public needs but is something that really matters. What would they have been like during WW2, can you even imagine?

  • http://Kingfisher Kingfisher

Ten years ago, I would have dismissed this story, but now? Now, I am very concerned that the ACLU might win this case and that would hamper the war effort.

Hopefully hanged as the treasonous asses they are.

Unfortunately, this country no longer cares about traitors to the nation; as evidence by Jane Fonda, John Kerry, and Jim McDermott still walking free!

Here you guys have a point. And this suit will be laughed out of court.

Keep your sick sexual fantasies to yourself, Vega!

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

The flag thing was pretty sad, Vega. Putting a flag over various encampments of foreign aid is a morale booster for Haitians, not something to upset them. “Wow, mon, look at all those people who came to help us from alla dem countries!”

  • D-Vega

They know U.S. military when they see them, CT. And they are appreciative.

What’s sad is the amount of phony outrage over something that is not only not a big deal, but something we have done before.

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

The reason for not putting the flag up was pretty sad too, you gotta admit. Trying to appease French critics who said this was an invasion is about as pathetic as bowing to non-white heads of state (and mayors, dog catchers, what have you).

IN any case, can you even imagine what the present pathetic wretches at the ACLU would think during WW2?

“I understand your bombs are not carefully precision guided weapons that always hit their intended target, leaving no casualties except uniformed combatants? How many civilians died in your last air raid mister President? How many civilians are you killing with your wanton use of unguided ordnance?”

These people are so stupid it makes my teeth hurt, but it wouldn’t matter if only they didn’t have so much influence and such a loud voice. I don’t mind hapless, meaningless idiots like most protesters or CPUSA members. Its people with power and not enough wisdom to carry it out well that frustrate me.

  • StanInTexas

According to the latest poll 47% favor it, 46% oppose it, the rest undecided. It pretty much is a toss up as I also saw a poll that had the exact opposite numbers. Seems there are just as many that support it as oppose.
