Women facing crisis pregnancies are often pressured into having an abortion. They’re told they can’t handle all of the issues and hurdles that come with an unexpected baby. But sometimes, women are able to stand up to that pressure.

Valerie had a seven year-old child, a great job and was preparing to go back to school when she found out she was pregnant. It was the wrong time for a baby, so she scheduled an abortion. But she wasn’t expecting what happened next[1].

There was a blue van parked outside of the abortion clinic when she arrived, where a volunteer offered her an ultrasound. At first, Valerie refused and went into the clinic. But as she sat there waiting, she couldn’t stop thinking about the ultrasound. So, she went back outside to the van and got the ultrasound done… where she discovered she was having twins.

Valerie was even more overwhelmed, but the crisis pregnancy center working with the volunteers in the van had resources to offer her. And even more importantly, they offered her hope. She decided to keep her babies right then and there.

“I thank God that He led me to this van outside of the abortion clinic and for the lady who offered me a sonogram and other support,” she said. “Because of her, I was able to see my surprise twins and chose to continue with my pregnancy. I recommend my friends and anyone I know who is going through a rough time to go to Englewood for help if they are pregnant and have no one to go to.”

Thanks to the help of the volunteers that day, Valerie knew that she wouldn’t have to face this obstacle alone.
