Amazing: Watch Lab Test Dogs Enjoy Freedom For The First Time [VIDEO]

I love dogs[1] and I think treating them the way these poor pups were done is monstrous. This is in India. These poor dogs were bred for animal testing – for the production of beauty products. They were kept in the same room they were born in… never saw the sun… were never petted or loved and were given as little food as possible. Animal activists stepped in and set these angels free. Over 1,000 people have applied online to give them homes. That warms your heart. You have to watch the video. For the first time in their brief lives they are out playing in the sun and getting love from people. One little pup was too afraid to come out of his pen, but I’m sure eventually he was coaxed out.

BEAGLE RESCUE AND RELEASE[2]

From Little Things:

Imagine spending your entire life up until this point in the same room you were born in.

Imagine the only interaction you experience with other people is endless poking and prodding and pain. Imagine never having seen the sun.

This was the everyday reality for 156 dogs[3] born and bred in a testing laboratory in Bangalore, India. Each day, these innocent beagles were tested on, given minimal food, and no love all in the name of beauty.

Although the city made animal testing for soaps and detergents illegal, the facility got away with using dogs for testing beauty products because it was not technically banned by law.

Fortunately, word got out about the dogs’ plight[4] and animal activists in the area stepped in.

156 Beagle puppies were rescued from a brutal and painful existence. They were rescued by Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA). Although testing of household products like soaps and detergents on animals is illegal, the Indian government technically did not prohibit animal testing for beauty products. At first, all of the dogs were confused and scared of their rescuers. “They are still hesitant to meet people,” Chinthana Gopinath, a volunteer, explained to Daily Mail. “When they came out of the lab, they were visibly terrified. They were always kept in the dark and did not know about the outer world.” None of the dogs, varying in age from 2 to 5 years old, was potty trained. Some even had trouble walking, since they had been confined to cages for most of their lives. Each dog will be fixed and vaccinated before going to a forever home. 26 dogs have already been adopted and people are lining up for the rest of them. I personally do not believe in animal testing. There have got to be more humane methods to get results. There is nothing more heart warming than a happy dog. These Beagles are a great example of that.
