Obama Admin: Hey, Perhaps Islamists In Egypts Government Would Be OK

What could possibly go wrong?

The Obama administration said for the first time[1] that it supports a role for groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, a banned Islamist organization, in a reformed Egyptian government.

The organization must reject violence and recognize democratic goals if the U.S. is to be comfortable with it taking part in the government, the White House said. But by even setting conditions for the involvement of such nonsecular groups, the administration took a surprise step in the midst of the crisis that has enveloped Egypt for the last week.

The statement was an acknowledgment that any popularly accepted new government will probably include groups that are not considered friendly to U.S. interests, and was a signal that the White House is prepared for that probability after 30 years of reliable relations with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

The stated goals of the Muslim Brotherhood are to spread hardcore Islam around the globe, and install the Koran and Sunneh as the “sole reference point for … ordering the life of the Muslim family, individual, community … and state”. Since they were formed, their ideas have been to spread hardcore Islam, and Sharia law, without violence. But, make no mistake, they want the same type of world that al-Qaeda does. And their “non-violence” policy was meant to be in effect until they were ready to strike and be assured of success. And they have had no problem with getting others to become violent.

This administration lives in its own little world.
