Obama insults Veterans, but one dished back a wicked reply that’s going viral

When Obama addressed an audience in Elkhart, Indiana[1] that included the Veterans of Foreign Wars group, he massively misjudged his audience. In a district that overwhelmingly voted against him, Obama proceeded to rail against right wing media and Republicans. Members of the military past and present tend to be conservative and they did not appreciate his speech blaming others for the economy. During his speech, Obama referred to what he called the “primary story” told by Republicans, dealing with “moochers at the bottom of the income ladder.” He said, “We have been hearing this story for decades. Tales about welfare queens, talking about takers … It’s the story that is broadcast every day on some cable news stations, on right-wing radio, it’s pumped into cars, and bars, and VFW halls all across America, and right here in Elkhart.” He basically claimed that propaganda from the right was causing Americans to believe big government was the problem. Well, duh. Of course it is and no amount of bluster from Obama is going to convince us otherwise. We don’t need the media or the Republican Party to convince us of that… all we have to do is pay attention.

From Allen West:

Members of the veterans group did not appreciate Obama’s “lecturing.”

VFW National Commander, John A. Biedrzycki issued a statement saying, “I don’t know how many VFW Posts the president has ever visited, but our near 1.7 million members are a direct reflection of America. We don’t have confused politics, we don’t need left or rightwing media filters telling us how to think or vote, and we don’t need any President of the United States lecturing us about how we are individually [affected] by the economy.”

He added that men and women in uniform are responsible for creating our nation and it exists today because of them.

With over 300,000 veterans having died awaiting for VA care, it is small wonder they believe big government is the problem. It takes over half a year for a claim to be processed by the VA. The number of veterans waiting over a year to receive benefits has increased from 11,000 when Obama took office to nearly 250,000 by 2013. To insinuate those that served are moochers or are too dumb to know they are being bamboozled is a massive insult to veterans and they are letting Obama know it. Here’s to hoping that many more like VFW National Commander, John A. Biedrzycki slap Obama down like this. His wicked reply slung back at Obama was epic.
