Texas Governor Has Called For CONVENTION OF THE STATES – To STOP Barack Obama – It’s Happening…

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott[1] is calling for “The Texas Plan.” He wants a convention of the states and to invoke Article V of the US Constitution so new amendments can be proposed to rein in the federal government. Abbott has been at the forefront of stopping illegal immigration in his state and across the US. He wholeheartedly endorses Ted Cruz for president as well. Some of the amendments in the proposal include prohibiting administrative agencies and the unelected bureaucrats from creating and preempting federal law; mandating that Congress balance its budget; allowing a two-thirds majority of the states to override a US Supreme Court decision, federal law or regulation; and prohibiting Congress from regulating activity that occurs within one state’s borders. I think it sounds fantastic.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott led the charge in court against President Obama’s amnesty program for illegal aliens. Now, he’s joining the fight on another front, pushing a “convention of the states[3]” proposal that has gained momentum in Obama’s second term as many conservatives attempt to rein in the federal government.

The proposal aims to invoke Article V of the U.S. Constitution to propose new amendments to the founding document.

On Friday, Abbott officially called for just such a convention to seize power from a federal government that is out of control and return it to the states. He called his proposed amendments “The Texas Plan.”[4]

President Obama has massively abused his presidential authority, much in the way that a dictator would. He has shredded the Constitution and our rights at every available opportunity. “If this is allowed, the United States Constitution has been completely rewritten,” Abbott said in an interview with the Examiner. “The United States Supreme Court is a co-conspirator in tearing down our Constitution, which is exactly why I am calling for a Convention of States so we can restore the Constitution to its original principles,” he added. Abbott argues that a convention would force the federal government to “take the Constitution seriously again.” On Abbott standing against illegal immigration and Obama’s abuse of executive orders, the following states have joined Abbott’s lawsuit: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The Supreme Court is expected to decide the case in June. Only five states so far have joined Abbott on the constitutional convention call, but that is likely to grow and fast.
