Officers Leave Basketball Game After Seeing Player’s Shirts [VIDEO]

Minneapolis police officers were working an off-duty gig at a WNBA game when they noticed something so highly offensive that the entire security team walked out. This happened last WNBA basketball season where the players decided to wear anti-police/Black Lives Matter t-shirts.

Following the deaths of Philando Castille and Alton Sterling last year, the players wore the shirts at the Lynx game explaining they were calling for change. Unfortunately, their kind of change propaganda shirts enraged the officers, who were working security at the game and decided to leave. Minneapolis Police Federation Lt. Bob Kroll said “I commend them for it.”

Ashley Carlson, the team’s spokeswoman, said that the players were saddened by the deaths of Castille and Sterling. but would not be wearing the shirts at future games because of the blowback. At the time, many people applauded the officers for taking a stand against the players who supported Black Lives Matter because they didn’t like sports people getting political.

Here are a few comments online about the event:

“These sport people are getting as bad as the Hollywood morons. They all live in their own little world. These people that wear crap like this need to quit playing sports and put on a uniform and badge and tell me how that works for them just trying to make it thru their shift and go home to the family alive. Other wise they need to shut the hell up.”

“I would have walked out too. Too bad somebody didn’t retaliate on them with no one to protect them. The days of BLM power over the police (they think) is over. They got away with that crap when Obummer was in office, but Trump isn’t gonna let this continue. He respects the police and military and expects the same respect from every American. This is how we make America great again!!!!”

Unfortunately these lady basketball players specialize in sports, not crime statistics. They don’t understand how high the black on black crime is (being the highest per capita in the nation). Saying that criminal behavior and tragedies that result from criminal attitudes is because of racial profiling is just plain ignorance.

The entire misguided Black Lives Matter movement has become even more misguided just months later. Recently, Black Lives Matter Philly — an affiliate of the national BLM — advertised an April 15 open meeting. They made sure to note their exclusivity: “This is a black only space.” Quickly social media began to question the separatist meeting and the retort was that Malcolm X “took our same stance” and replied that anyone who identifies as a person of the African Diaspora was welcome to attend. If not, “you can support us in other ways.”

Many news sites jumped on the story pointing out if anyone held a “this is a white space only” meeting, that the left would be up in arms. Black Lives Matter Philly then released a lengthy statement about the backlash, saying that: “We are unapologetically Black and believe having Black only spaces — where Black people can come together to strategize, organize, heal and fellowship without the threat of violence and co-optation — is an important part of Black liberation.”

I guess the question is… are creating ‘black space only’ meetings/areas and wearing anti-police shirts really going to be the way to heal cultural disunity? What is your best answer to people feeling safe and equal?
