Michelle Duggar is the mother of the TLC show 19 Kids and Counting family. She is very outspoken about her strict religious beliefs about modesty and chastity. She raises her 19 kids (and counting) with strict rules that sometimes backfires.
Apparently, it wasn’t until Michelle met her hubby that she started to conform to his strict religious ways. She says that she was a Christian, but not as “devout” as her husband was.
She now refuses to wear pants, which as we all know, is the first step on the long road to hell. But check her out in high school as a cheerleader!
Jim Bob and Michelle didn’t follow the same rules that they impose on their dozens of children. They were “allowed” physical contact before being engaged. Although they got married as teenagers, that doesn’t seem to have any bearing on their love for each other currently.
I always found it weird that they wouldn’t allow their children any physical contact before marriage and only hand holding after an engagement proposal. There always needs to be a chaperone on a date and maybe it seems sweet, but I think it seems pretty weird. More power to them I guess.
I mean I get it, just look at them sinning here. It almost warrants a not safe for work tag or something. This is just preposterous. In my day, we didn’t do such things. Next thing you know, they’re doing the jitterbug and hanging out with the colored kids down the street.
Was the jitterbug the thing of the time? I don’t know, but I hope you detect the sarcasm of my last paragraph.
The Duggars are also adamantly opposed to birth control. Which is not a surprise given that they have 19 kids…and counting. They weren’t always against it and were using some form of contraception early in their marriage. Michelle had a miscarriage which she blames on the birth control.
“We named that baby Caleb even though we didn’t know if it was a boy or girl because that miscarriage was early,” she says. “We will name this child and will know that we will see those children again someday in heaven.”
They are bringing those values into their extended families now and all seems to be going well for the moment.
Do you think this is hypocritical? Or should parents always hold their children to higher standards in order to mitigate some of the poor decision making that inevitably befalls teenagers?
