He took a knee during the Army/Navy game, but the reason is nothing like Kaepernick

His prayers were answered. Another man at a football game took a knee, but for a completely different reason than Colin Kaepernick. This is a man of God… West Point Chaplain Matthew Pawlikowski sank to his knees beside the football field to pray for his team. It was the last ten minutes of a glorious battle and in the end, Matthew’s prayers were heard… Army beat Navy for the first time in 14 years. It was one of the most patriotic moments in history.

Matthew prayed the Rosary right up until the end of the game where Army was victorious with a 21-17 lead. As they won, the players pulled the Chaplain from his knees and brought him out to celebrate with them. And President-elect Donald Trump was there to watch the whole thing. The crowds cheered monstrously for Trump and cheered even louder for team Army. You couldn’t help but be overwhelmed with emotion, even if you were rooting for the Navy. It was an American moment.

Much has been made of people kneeling during patriotic moments at football games this year. However, the kneeling going on in the final moments of Army’s historic victory over Navy Saturday night in Baltimore was a welcome sight, a least for the Black Knight hopeful.

West Point Chaplain Matthew Pawlikowski could be found on his knees, feet from the field, fiercely praying the Rosary for at least the last ten minutes of the game. In that time, Army took a commanding 21-17 lead — they stopped the ever-dangerous Midshipmen offense in their tracks and clung to the victory.

The spinning silver Rosary never left Pawlikowski’s hands as he kissed it and kept his eyes shut tight, even as his team made crucial play after play and the audience roared.

Eventually, as the final seconds of the game ticked off the clock, Pawlikowski was pulled from his kneeling stance by the players he was praying for and brought to the field to celebrate.

You might wonder what Pawlikowski was really praying for… this is what he had to say:

“I began the game praying that no one on either side would get hurt and that God would protect all of us and those who sacrifice for our great nation. Now I’m just praying for an Army victory.”

Looks like God was in attendance at the game as well. Congrats to Army for winning the day and congrats to their new Commander-in-Chief who took the time to come and watch. And while Trump was there, he made sure to shake the hands of the enlisted men and women. The upper brass also sought him out. The military is thrilled to have a real man lead them again. It was a win all around.
