Al Gore Declares A “Climate Crisis” Over Naturally Occurring Iceberg In Antarctica

I thought it was hot in here…[1] it’s all the hot air coming from Al Gore again. Now he’s ranting over the Larsen C iceberg that just calved from the ice shelf. It is a natural occurrence, but according to Gore, of course, it is the end of the world as we know it. Quick! Give him money!! He’s saying it is a stark reminder of how climate change is dooming all of us. Right.

If the wind blows the wrong way, Gore ties it to global warming and climate change. He’s worse than Chicken Little. The iceberg is the size of Delaware and calved sometime between Monday and today. The sane scientists out there are saying this is not connected to humans contributing to climate change. Then again, who ever claimed Gore was sane? However, it did change the makeup of the Antarctic Peninsula forever. Although it will continue to grow, the mass is now more unstable.

From The Daily Caller:

Former Vice President Al Gore says the newly-formed Larsen C iceberg is “a jarring reminder of why we must solve the climate crisis,” although scientists say the ice sheet break up was driven by natural processes.

Gore, on the other hand, stuck to his playbook of tying nearly every weather or ice event to man-made global warming.

A Delaware-sized iceberg broke away from the Antarctica’s Larsen C ice shelf sometime between Monday and Wednesday. Scientists tracking the ice rift said they were “not aware of any link to human-induced climate change” in the Larsen C ice shelf’s breakup.

Scientists expect the Larsen ice sheet to continue to grow in the future. MIDAS project researchers did say the calving left “the landscape of the Antarctic Peninsula changed forever” and new ice added to the sheet could be “potentially less stable than it was prior to the rift.”

“Although the remaining ice shelf will continue naturally to regrow, Swansea researchers have previously shown that the new configuration is potentially less stable than it was prior to the rift,” according to the MIDAS project[5].

Gore claimed the entire Larson C ice shelf broke away. That is incorrect as usual. This iceberg reduced the ice shelf by about 12 percent. The iceberg is about 2,200 square miles in size. That’s only a fraction of the Larsen C ice shelf’s 17,100 square-mile total area. The crack that resulted in the iceberg appeared in 2014. It was about 120 miles long. It grew rapidly in the last year. That’s nature, y’all.

Scientists are not sure what will happen to the rest of the ice sheet, but they are concerned that “Larsen C may eventually follow the example of its neighbor, Larsen B, which disintegrated in 2002 following a similar rift-induced calving event in 1995,” according to MIDAS. Just like every other climate related apocalyptic event that Al Gore has shrieked over, this is pretty much a meh in climatology. The seas won’t rise and the earth won’t end, but unfortunately for all of us… Al Gore will go on being an asshat.
